PwC Legal Middle East has beenoperating for over 10 years through its hub in the DubaiInternational Financial Centre. We have a team of 60 lawyers andlegal professionals based in and working across the region. Wecover the region through our sizable and fastgrowing team of legalprofessionals.

We are currently witnessing anunprecedented growth in companies and government entities who areworking with PwC on the design and implementation of their plans.At PwC we regularly work with the financial and digital assetsregulators in the region. We also practice in emerging financialservices areas including digital currencies.
To be ableto better respond to the needs of our clients we are consideringbringing on board experienced senior lawyers to lead thedevelopment and growth of PwC Legals FinTech practice in the MiddleEast.
The successful candidate will work closely withour local regional and global lines of service and corporateadvisory teams which operate across the UK Europe Middle East andAsia.

Role Overview:

The successfulcandidate(s) will be responsible for providing expert legal adviceand guidance to clients on regulated financial services activitiesvirtual assets emerging technology covering a wide range ofregulatory compliance data protection and technology relatedmatters. The ideal candidate(s) should have a strong background infinancial services and virtual asset activities regulatorylicensing applications regulatory compliance data privacy and otherrelated issues. Experience in dealing with crossborder regulatorybodies within the UAE KSA and wider MENA region. Familiarity withemerging technologies in financial services will be highly valued.

The candidate(s) should alsopossess strong business development skills a proven track record ofmanaging client relationships and the ability to navigate thecomplex regulatory landscape in the region.

Demonstrateextensive abilities and / or a proven record of success to solvecomplex business issues from strategy to execution in:

  • Leading and managingfinancial services and virtual asset regulatory licensingapplications with UAE and Middle East regulators;

  • Providing expert legaladvice on financial services virtual asset and data privacy lawsand regulations within the UAE and Middle East;

  • Developing and maintainingstrong relationships with regulatory bodies and key stakeholders inthe financial services and technology sector;

  • Actinging as a liaisonbetween clients and regulators to facilitate smooth and effectivecommunication and compliance processes;

  • Providing legal adviceguidance and support to clients on FinTech matters includingdigital assets cryptocurrency data privacy and other relevantareas.

  • Conducting thoroughlegal research and analysis to stay updated on emerging trendsregulations and best practices in the FinTech financial servicesand TMT sector.

  • Draftingreviewing and negotiating a variety of contracts agreements andlegal documents related to regulated financial services dataprivacy technology media and telecommunications.

  • Assist clients innavigating complex regulatory frameworks and compliancerequirements in relation to FinTech financial services and TMTmatters.

  • Advising clientson intellectual property rights licensing and enforcement in thedigital era.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors and/orMasters degree in Law

  • Qualified lawyerregistered/enrolled in the home jurisdiction preferably from USA UKAustralia Canada New Zealand and South Africa.

  • 7 year(s) ofpostqualification experience (PQE) as a lawyer specializing inFintech and/or Technology with experience in the Middle East and afocus on the UAE/KSA.

  • Strong expertise inadvising on digital assets cryptocurrency data privacy and relatedareas.

  • Indepth knowledge ofrelevant laws regulations and industry standards pertaining toFintech and Technology matters particularly in the GCC/MENA Region

  • Excellent analyticalresearch and problemsolving skills.

  • Exceptional written andverbal communication abilities with the ability to explain complexlegal concepts clearly and concisely.

  • Proven track record ofsuccessfully managing multiple client engagements and deliveringhighquality legal services.

  • Strong business acumen andthe ability to understand and align legal strategies with clientscommercial objectives.

  • Demonstrated ability towork collaboratively in a team environment and build effectiverelationships with clients and colleagues.

  • Adherence to the highestethical stanBuild and lead a highly agile legal team

Therole reports to the Head of Legal within the Tax and Legal Line ofService in PwC Middle East.

Whilst the role is based inDubai/Riyadh the successful candidate will be expected to travelregionally and internationally.
