Surplus lines insurers do not generally participate in state guaranty funds, and insureds are therefore not protected by such funds.As an AIG risk engineer, you’ll be joining a highly experienced global team with a mission to use their industrial experience to provide underwriters with expert risk selection guidance to support profitable underwriting of our oil & petrochemical (O&P) & chemical business.Oil & Petrochemical & Chemical Risk Engineer | AIG Dubai | Apply NowYou will:Develop & manage risk engineering field survey programmesPerform operational and construction field surveys of our client’s O&P and chemical sites:meeting client representatives of all departments to verify risk mitigation approachesadvising clients with loss prevention recommendationswhere leading the survey, presenting survey results to site management focusing on the risk analysis and recommendations, decision-making processes & conclusionswriting internal & market reports in an accurate and timely fashion using AIG risk rating tools, report formats, loss estimation methods & softwareAdvise clients on how to improve the risk quality of their organisations by influencing site and corporate loss prevention practicesAnalyse AIG & third-party field survey reports by reviewing, interpreting, and summarising the risk informationPresent and explain your conclusions clearly and concisely to your underwriters providing them with the engineering knowledge to support profitable underwriting.Key Measures/DimensionsStrong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills (languages an advantage) in diverse environmentsStrong organisational and analytical skillsAble to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environmentand undertake global international travel for up to 90 days per yearand lead surveys at industrial facilities & deliver reports to strict deadlinesEnthusiastic learner committed to maintaining expertise through practice and continuing professional developmentKeen to understand the root causes of industrial disasters & to use that understanding to help your clients and underwriters avoid themTechnical Skills/CompetenciesChemical engineering degree. Ideally Chartered (or working toward)Good technical engineering & industrial experienceKnowledge of engineering concepts, standards, practices, procedures, and techniquesGood knowledge of the application of Process Safety ManagementOther working languages will be an advantageExperienceExperience of applying your engineering skills in industrial O&P, Chemical/Pharma environments such as operations, technical support, inspection, maintenance, consultancy, projects & process safety managementInvolvement in management/support of large projects such as major turnarounds and/or construction projectsPrevious experience of working for a major insurance carrier or broker would be an advantage as would experience of assessing construction projects*Relocation will not be providedDon’t miss out on thisn’t m exciting opportunity – apply now at dubaiofferz.com
