Our focus is on addressing the health and wellbeing protection needs of clients worldwide, through the delivery of straightforward, innovative solutions that make each client feel understood, confident and valued.Job DescriptionThe role of a Medical Underwriter involves prioritization, delegation and completion of daily workload to ensure SLA`s are met. To ensure high quality decisions made in line with underwriting guidelines and company policy. Client retention and maintaining high level of customer service are important aspects of the role. You will need to ensure smooth introduction of new processes and procedures as they arise.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan work schedules and prioritise workload to meet client SLA`s and deadlines set by management.Evaluate new business applications and ensure that underwriting decisions and amendments are processed within agreed time frames.Provide underwriting opinions and responses by telephone and email within tight turnaround times and maintain quality of service at all times.Collate productivity stats and update weekly reports for management.Attend company and departmental meetings on behalf of the Underwriting department and work with Sales and Client relations to drive new business growth.Work with management to develop and implement underwriting efficiencies and review processes and procedures, including systems processes, and recommend the necessary enhancements when required.The ability to make sound underwriting decisions in line with the underwriting guidelines and recommend commercial decisions when necessary.Provide support to Claims and Legal department on non-disclosure policies and offer retrospective underwriting decisions.Liaise with other departments, brokers, Relationship and Regional Sales Managers on a regular basis and provide underwriting support to all parties.Deal with queries and complaints promptly and effectively, and ensure that the manager is kept updated at all times.Take part in projects when required, review documentation were applicable, research information relating to your area and provide feedback.RequirementsKeyboard skills with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and other standard softwareMinimum of 2 years` experience in a Medical Underwriting role (Life/Disability/CI/Health insurance) working in a customer and quality focused environment, producing accurate work within team turnaround times. ORMinimum 3 years` experience in a Claims /Medical Services role (Life/Disability/CI/Health insurance) working in a customer and quality focused environment, producing accurate work within team turnaround times.Background of medical knowledge is an advantageAbility to work effectively within a team environmentStrong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skillsHonesty and IntegrityAbility to prioritise workload and manage time effectively.The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in growing multicultural company committed to empowering its employees and furthering their development.
