If you’re looking for further opportunities to develop your career, take the next step in fulfilling your potential right here at HSBC.The successful candidate will report to the Regional Head of WPB Legal, MENAT and is expected to take on a variety of legal matters with a reasonable degree of autonomy, with an emphasis on Wealth Management maters. The successful candidate will be responsible for (i) providing legal advice against the backdrop of both the external Legal framework and the internal Group Standards Manual and the Legal FIM; and (ii) assisting relevant business departments to manage legal risks associated with the initiatives they are undertaking.Duties & Responsibilities:• To provide legal advice, guidance and support and manage assigned areas and assist the relevant Line Manager and senior management to manage exposure to legal risk and discharge their responsibilities for legal matters affecting HSBC Group entities in the MENAT region, with particular emphasis on Wealth Management related matters;• To provide proactive and expert legal advice, guidance and support on a variety of matters for the MENAT Regional Legal team.• To provide legal advice, guidance and support to the UAE and other countries in the MENA region to ensure that the HSBC Group’s exposure to legal risk is managed and the execution of the Group business and operational strategies and initiatives is facilitated.• To lead and manage projects and initiatives which will assist in managing legal risk• To attend senior management meetings and provide legal advice, guidance and support to the senior management in managing legal and reputational risk• To contribute to the achievement of the objectives of HSBC in the MENAT Region by providing effective legal advice, guidance and support.• To be a trusted adviser to the business by ensuring that commercially sensitive, pragmatic and practical legal support and advice is provided in a cost-effective manner• To maintain and develop positive and professional working relationships with team members across the Regional Legal Team and beyond.• To maintain a constructive and efficient relationship with external panel law-firms and industry bodies.
Requirements Experience & Qualifications:• Bachelor’s degree is a must• Qualified Lawyer (although a qualification in the UAE is not essential) with a minimum of 6 years PQE• Experience in advising Wealth Management business• Knowledge of the HSBC Group corporate structures, its business and personnel and a clear understanding of HSBC’s corporate culture• Ability to prioritize and work independently• Communication and inter-personal skills• Lateral thinking and problem solving skillsWe support our staff to adopt flexible and alternative ways of working where possible, including working from home and different hours subject to approvals.For further details and application information please visit our careers site, searching under reference number.HSBC is committed to building a culture where all employees are valued, respected and opinions count.
