Vice President and Assistant General Counsel

Juris Doctor degree (JD) and 6+ years of experience in the field of law, preferably including financial services/insurance or another regulated industryExperience with life/annuity reinsurance transactionsExperience with pension risk transfer transactionsFamiliarity with the Model Holding Company Act a plusExperience independently, or leading a team, negotiating complex transactionsSuperior negotiation and drafting skillsSuperior ability to manage competing priorities of a variety of fast-paced, dynamic transactionsSuperior communication skills and ability to communicate complex topics succinctly to senior business and legal team membersDesire to become subject matter expert with respect to a variety of transactionsSuperior judgment with ability to use independent judgment, think commercially, establish priorities, delegate, drive processes forward and work effectively on multiple initiatives concurrentlyAbility to work with a geographically dispersed teamCapacity to consider, process and filter large amounts of complex information quickly and identify appropriate actions in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work across enterprise and present complex matters to senior business leadersStrong communication skills, work ethic and high level of personal integrity and accountabilityWillingness to travel periodically to international locations for transaction negotiations, including to BermudaApplicants must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States
Responsibilities
Negotiate transactions, including drafting a wide range of transactions documents and supervising outside counsel, between Global Atlantic and third-party insurance companiesServe as strategic legal advisor on multibillion dollar(re)insurance transactions, interacting directly and regularly with Global Atlantic’s industry-leading institutional markets insurance business teams and legal colleagues, as well as members of the C-suiteServe as go-to advisor on regulatory matters (both U.S. and non-U.S.) affecting Global Atlantic’s (re)insurance businessLead coordination of various Global Atlantic functional are as in order to advise on and facilitate business initiativesCollaborate and serve as legal lead on developing and implanting best practices of a growing organizationLead evaluation of and present to senior leadership on novel matters and transactionsBuild and maintain partnerships with internal stakeholders as well as contacts within the broader legal & and compliance community
