The responsibility of the Regional Sales Manager is to provide leadership and oversight for the regional sales team, as well as, all selling and marketing activities. This will include relevant safety standards, setting sales staffing needs, compensation programs, marketing activities and budgeting. The Sales Manager will work with other relevant departments to establish future volume and margin goals.
Recruit, hire, train, and retain a team of high caliber sales employees that will thrive in a positive work environment where
employees have the autonomy to contribute and to develop customer relationships.Hold periodic performance feedback meetings with each salesperson and address any performance issues with a performance improvement plan. Make staff changes necessary to maintain a high performance sales organization.Participate in the development of the annual budget and work with the regional leadership team to deliver on the volume and income budgets as approved by senior management.Manage the sales compensation plan to compensate sales employees fairly and to provide incentive to grow volume.Work closely with the sales teams to drive new business growth. Focus on value added business while strategically growing the commodity segment of the regional business.Work closely with marketing resources to implement marketing actions to grow the company identity and brand in the market.Participate with the credit team to manage accounts receivable. Set an expectation of prudent AR management and active involvement of the sales team working closely with the regional credit manager.Participate in industry meetings to stay abreast of the feed industry environment and the potential impact.Participate as a member of the regional leadership team contributing to the overall success of the company.Maintain a sales presence with select key customersMaintain a relationship with outside nutritionists, vendors and other industry representatives Supervisory Responsibilities:
Provide Oversight and leadership to a team of outside sales people, inside sales people, and nutritionists
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience: Minimum of a Bachelor s degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university or equivalent experience, plus 5 or more years of selling experience, preferably in animal agriculture or a related field.
A valid driver s license is required for this job
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, to write simple
correspondence and to effectively present information in one-on-one and small to mid-sized group situations to customers, clients, the sales team or other employees of the organization.Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.Reasoning ability: Ability to recognize and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Excel spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word Processing software.Other Skill and Abilities: Knowledge of dairy operations and ruminant nutrition are essential.Competency:SafetyIntegrityProfessionalismAccountabilityTeamwork
