A Dental Specialist also known as a Dental Specialist or Dental Consultant is a highly trained dental professional who specializes in a specific area of dentistry beyond general practice. Dental specialists undergo advanced education and training in their chosen field to provide specialized care and expertise in treating complex dental conditions. Heres a detailed job description for a Dental Specialist:
Utilize specialized knowledge skills and technology to diagnose and treat complex dental conditions within their area of expertise. Employ advanced diagnostic tools imaging techniques and treatment modalities to provide precise and effective care for patients.
Perform specialized dental procedures and interventions that require advanced training and expertise. These procedures may include but are not limited to:Diagnosis and treatment of misaligned teeth and jaws using braces aligners and other orthodontic appliances to improve bite function and facial aesthetics.Diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injuries affecting the dental pulp and root canal system including root canal therapy apical surgery and management of dental trauma.Diagnosis and treatment of gum diseases gingival recession and periodontal defects using nonsurgical and surgical techniques such as scaling and root planing gum grafting and guided tissue regeneration.Restoration and replacement of missing teeth and oral structures through the design fabrication and placement of dental prostheses such as crowns bridges dentures and dental implants.Surgical treatment of conditions affecting the mouth jaws face and neck including tooth extractions dental implant placement bone grafting orthognathic surgery and treatment of oral pathology.
Specialized dental care for infants children and adolescents focusing on prevention diagnosis and treatment of dental problems specific to pediatric patients including dental caries malocclusions and developmental anomalies.
Work collaboratively with general dentists and other dental specialists to provide comprehensive and integrated care for patients with complex dental needs. Consult with colleagues and refer patients as needed to ensure they receive the most appropriate and effective treatment.
Stay updated with the latest advancements techniques and research findings in their field through ongoing professional development activities including attending conferences workshops and advanced training programs. Contribute to dental research and scholarly activities to advance the knowledge and practice of their specialty.
Educate patients about their dental conditions treatment options and preventive measures to maintain oral health. Address patients concerns questions and anxieties with empathy and clarity ensuring they are wellinformed and actively involved in their treatment decisions.
Adhere to evidencebased practices clinical guidelines and regulatory standards to deliver highquality dental care while prioritizing patient safety and wellbeing. Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient care treatment plans and outcomes in compliance with legal and ethical requirements.
Requirements
Bachelors Degree
/ Doctor of Dental Medicine
Western Board Preferred
Minimum 2 3 years of experience
Demonstrated clinical experience
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
MOH registered Preferred
Ability to multitask prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fastpaced environment.
Willing to work flexible hours as and when required
