ADental Specialist also known as a Dental Specialist or DentalConsultant is a highly trained dental professional who specializesin a specific area of dentistry beyond general practice. Dentalspecialists undergo advanced education and training in their chosenfield to provide specialized care and expertise in treating complexdental conditions. Heres a detailed job description for a DentalSpecialist:


  • Utilizespecialized knowledge skills and technology to diagnose and treatcomplex dental conditions within their area of expertise. Employadvanced diagnostic tools imaging techniques and treatmentmodalities to provide precise and effective care forpatients.
  • Performspecialized dental procedures and interventions that requireadvanced training and expertise. These procedures may include butare not limited to:
    Diagnosis and treatment of misalignedteeth and jaws using braces aligners and other orthodonticappliances to improve bite function and facialaesthetics.
    Diagnosis and treatment of diseases andinjuries affecting the dental pulp and root canal system includingroot canal therapy apical surgery and management of dentaltrauma.
    Diagnosis and treatment of gum diseases gingivalrecession and periodontal defects using nonsurgical and surgicaltechniques such as scaling and root planing gum grafting and guidedtissue regeneration.
    Restoration and replacement ofmissing teeth and oral structures through the design fabricationand placement of dental prostheses such as crowns bridges denturesand dental implants.
    Surgical treatment of conditionsaffecting the mouth jaws face and neck including tooth extractionsdental implant placement bone grafting orthognathic surgery andtreatment of oralpathology.
  • Specializeddental care for infants children and adolescents focusing onprevention diagnosis and treatment of dental problems specific topediatric patients including dental caries malocclusions anddevelopmentalanomalies.
  • Workcollaboratively with general dentists and other dental specialiststo provide comprehensive and integrated care for patients withcomplex dental needs. Consult with colleagues and refer patients asneeded to ensure they receive the most appropriate and effectivetreatment.
  • Stayupdated with the latest advancements techniques and researchfindings in their field through ongoing professional developmentactivities including attending conferences workshops and advancedtraining programs. Contribute to dental research and scholarlyactivities to advance the knowledge and practice of theirspecialty.
  • Educatepatients about their dental conditions treatment options andpreventive measures to maintain oral health. Address patientsconcerns questions and anxieties with empathy and clarity ensuringthey are wellinformed and actively involved in their treatmentdecisions.
  • Adhereto evidencebased practices clinical guidelines and regulatorystandards to deliver highquality dental care while prioritizingpatient safety and wellbeing. Maintain accurate and detailedrecords of patient care treatment plans and outcomes in compliancewith legal and ethical requirements.


RequirementsBachelors Degree / Doctor of DentalMedicine Western BoardPreferred
Minimum 2 3 years ofexperience
Demonstratedclinical experience
Excellentcommunication and organizationalskills.
MOH registeredPreferred
Ability to multitaskprioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fastpacedenvironment.
Willing to workflexible hours as and whenrequired
