Role Overview

Monarca International represents world-leading manufacturers of architectural outdoor, sports, and smart lighting solutions. We are seeking a Business Development Manager to drive growth within the urban infrastructure and smart lighting sector across the UAE and GCC.

This role requires someone who understands both the technical aspects of outdoor lighting systems and the complex stakeholder dynamics of large-scale urban development projects. You'll be working with government entities, master developers, consultants, and city planners to position innovative lighting solutions—from architectural façade lighting to smart poles and sports infrastructure—as the specification of choice.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Client Acquisition

• Identify, target, and engage potential clients across public sector entities (RTA, municipalities, government authorities), master developers, urban consultants, and city planners
• Manage the full business development cycle from prospecting through specification, tendering, and deal closure
• Develop and deliver tailored presentations, technical proposals, and consultative solutions that address specific project requirements
• Build and maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities within urban development, infrastructure, and smart city initiatives

Stakeholder Relationship Management

• Cultivate long-term strategic relationships with key decision-makers in government, consulting firms, and development companies
• Navigate complex stakeholder environments involving architects, lighting consultants, electrical consultants, procurement teams, and end clients
• Represent Monarca and our international brand partners at industry events, smart city conferences, lighting exhibitions, and municipal forums

Market Intelligence & Strategy

• Monitor urban development pipelines, upcoming infrastructure projects, and smart city initiatives across the region
• Track regulatory changes, sustainability mandates (Dubai 2040, net-zero commitments), and competitor activity
• Collaborate with Monarca's technical team and manufacturing partners on product positioning, customization opportunities, and market-specific requirements
• Work alongside Monarca's team and technical specialists to align on strategic priorities

Sales Administration

• Maintain accurate CRM records, sales pipelines, and forecasting
• Prepare regular activity reports and market insights for leadership
• Coordinate with operations on project handover, technical submissions, and delivery timelines

Requirements

Experience & Knowledge:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Urban Planning, Business, or related field
• 5+ years in B2B business development or technical sales within outdoor lighting, infrastructure, or smart city technologies
• Strong understanding of UAE/GCC procurement processes, tendering cycles, and public-private partnerships
• Knowledge of urban development stakeholder ecosystems—from master planners to consulting engineers to municipal authorities
• Familiarity with lighting technical concepts: photometrics, control systems, IP/IK ratings, sustainability standards (ideally, not mandatory if strong commercial acumen)

Technical Aptitude:

• Understanding of smart infrastructure and IoT ecosystems (control protocols, integration platforms, connected city concepts)
• Ability to discuss technical requirements credibly with engineering consultants and government technical teams
• Comfortable reading project specifications and coordinating technical responses with internal teams

• Willingness to travel within UAE and GCC as needed

Languages:

• Fluency in English is essential
