Position Summary
The eVTOL Operations Director is responsible for leading, developing, and overseeing all operational aspects of the company's electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) fleet. This role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant flight operations while scaling the business for commercial readiness. The ideal candidate combines strong aviation operations expertise with strategic leadership in advanced air mobility and technology-driven environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily eVTOL flight operations, including scheduling, crew management, maintenance coordination, and flight dispatch.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) aligned with aviation regulations and best practices.
- Lead the design and optimization of operational frameworks for urban air mobility (UAM) networks.
- Ensure readiness of infrastructure such as vertiports, charging stations, and maintenance hubs.
- Ensure strict adherence to national and international aviation safety and regulatory standards (e.g., FAA, EASA, GACA, or local authority).
- Establish and manage the company's Safety Management System (SMS) and operational risk controls.
- Coordinate with aviation authorities for certification, operational approval, and airspace integration.
- Develop long-term operational strategies for scaling eVTOL services, including route planning, capacity management, and cost optimization.
- Drive continuous improvement in operational performance, efficiency, and reliability metrics.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and technology teams to ensure seamless integration of new aircraft and systems.
- Build, mentor, and lead a multidisciplinary operations team (flight, ground, dispatch, and safety).
- Define performance KPIs for operational excellence and accountability.
- Foster a culture of safety, innovation, and operational discipline.
- Liaise with government bodies, air traffic control, and aviation partners to ensure operational feasibility and compliance.
- Support commercial and business development teams with operational insights for client and partner engagements.
- Represent the company in industry forums and regulatory meetings.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Aerospace Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in aviation operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (e.g., Flight Operations Director, Chief Pilot, or Operations Manager).
- Proven track record in managing operations for advanced aircraft systems (eVTOL, UAV, rotorcraft, or similar).
- Deep understanding of airspace management, certification processes, and flight safety systems.
- Experience in scaling new aviation technologies or startups is a strong plus.
- Valid pilot's license or operational certification preferred.
