The
Senior Contract Engineer
is a pivotal role within our project management team, responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of high-value construction and engineering contracts. This role demands a sophisticated blend of legal literacy, technical engineering knowledge, and sharp commercial acumen to protect the firm's interests and ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Contract Drafting & Expert Documentation

  2. Drafting comprehensive contract agreements from scratch, ensuring all conditions, annexes, and technical specifications are aligned.

  3. Expert application of the
    FIDIC 1999 Suite of Contracts
    (Red, Yellow, and Silver books).
  4. Standardizing and drafting critical project forms, including:
  5. Performance Bonds and Bank Guarantee forms.
  6. Warranty agreements and Parent Company Guarantees.

  7. Letters of Intent (LOI) and Memorandums of Understanding (MOU).

  8. Strategic Negotiation & Risk Mitigation

  9. Lead negotiations for main contracts with Clients and Consultants to ensure equitable risk distribution.

  10. Review, draft, and finalize subcontracts, ensuring back-to-back alignment with the main contract.
  11. Gap Analysis:
    Meticulously identify hidden contractual gaps, ambiguities, and "time bars" that could lead to disputes or financial loss.

  12. Develop risk mitigation strategies to address identified contractual vulnerabilities.

  13. Contractual Writing & Communication

  14. Act as the primary author for high-stakes contractual correspondence.

  15. Conduct detailed investigations into project events to draft robust responses to notifications and instructions.
  16. Manage the formal "Notice" process to ensure all rights are preserved under the contract's strict timelines.

  17. Review and approve variations, ensuring they are documented with clear technical and commercial justification.

  18. Claims Management & Dispute Resolution

  19. Claim Preparation:
    Build comprehensive claim packages for extensions of time (EOT) and additional costs, ensuring full substantiation through contemporary records.

  20. Defense & Counterclaims:
    Critically assess, refute, or negotiate claims submitted by subcontractors.
  21. Prepare counterclaims where subcontractor performance fails to meet contractual obligations.
  22. Assist the legal and project teams in the event of arbitration or formal dispute resolution proceedings.

Requirements

Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil)

Experience:
Minimum 10–12 years of experience in contract administration, with at least 8 years in a Senior role on large-scale Construction/ Contracting company.

Technical Skills:
Mastery of
FIDIC 1999
; proficiency in delay analysis methodologies and cost engineering.

Soft Skills:
Exceptional command of written English, persuasive negotiation skills, and high attention to detail.
