Senior Accountant – General Contracting Company

About the Company

We are a mid-sized, fast-growing general contracting company managing over eight active projects annually across Abu Dhabi. Our work spans general construction, maintenance, and development projects. We're looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Senior Accountant to take full ownership of our company's accounting and finance operations.

Role Overview

The Senior Accountant will lead the accounting function, overseeing all daily financial activities including data entry, payables, receivables, VAT filing, subcontractor payments, progress billings, payroll coordination, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is experienced in the UAE contracting industry, fluent in both Arabic and English, and able to maintain strict accuracy while managing a high workload.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all accounting operations — entries, reconciliations, and reporting in QuickBooks
• Prepare and maintain accurate records for all bills, subcontractor payments, LPOs, and cheque transactions
• Track subcontractor progress, prepare payment certificates, and align with project milestones
• Oversee monthly closing, financial statements, and project-based reporting
• Handle UAE VAT filing, compliance, and coordination with tax advisors
• Maintain cost tracking for multiple ongoing projects and ensure alignment with budgets
• Prepare payment vouchers and cheques for management signature
• Verify supplier invoices, quotations, and purchase orders for accuracy and approval
• Assist management with forecasts, cash flow planning, and financial analysis
• Liaise with auditors, banks, and vendors as required

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's preferred)
• 10+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 5 years in UAE contracting or construction
• Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, and reporting)
• Strong understanding of UAE VAT laws and accounting standards
• Bilingual – Arabic and English (required)
• Calm, independent, and assertive personality; able to handle full-cycle accounting with minimal supervision
• Familiarity with UAE labor laws, WPS payroll, subcontractor management, and procurement processes is a plus

المسؤوليات الرئيسية

• إدارة جميع العمليات المحاسبية – القيود، والمطابقات، والتقارير باستخدام QuickBooks
• إعداد وحفظ السجلات الدقيقة لجميع الفواتير ومدفوعات المقاولين الفرعيين وأوامر الشراء والشيكات
• تتبع تقدم المقاولين الفرعيين وإعداد شهادات الدفع وربطها بمراحل المشاريع
• الإشراف على الإقفال الشهري والبيانات المالية وتقارير المشاريع
• التعامل مع تقديم ضريبة القيمة المضافة والالتزام بالقوانين والتنسيق مع المستشارين الضريبيين
• تتبع تكاليف المشاريع وضمان توافقها مع الميزانيات المحددة
• إعداد أوامر الدفع والشيكات لتوقيع الإدارة
• مراجعة فواتير الموردين والعروض وأوامر الشراء للتحقق من الدقة والموافقة
• مساعدة الإدارة في إعداد التوقعات والتخطيط المالي وتحليل التدفقات النقدية
• التواصل مع المدققين والبنوك والموردين حسب الحاجة

المؤهلات والمهارات

• درجة البكالوريوس في المحاسبة أو المالية أو تخصص ذي صلة (يفضل الماجستير)
• خبرة لا تقل عن 10 سنوات في المحاسبة، منها 5 سنوات على الأقل في مجال المقاولات داخل الإمارات
• إجادة استخدام QuickBooks وMicrosoft Excel (الجداول المحورية والصيغ والتقارير)
• معرفة قوية بقوانين ضريبة القيمة المضافة والمعايير المحاسبية في الإمارات
• يجيد اللغتين العربية والإنجليزية (شرط أساسي)
• شخصية هادئة ومستقلة وحازمة؛ قادرة على إدارة دورة المحاسبة الكاملة بشكل ذاتي
• الإلمام بقوانين العمل الإماراتية ونظام الرواتب WPS وإدارة المقاولين الفرعيين وإجراءات المشتريات يُعد ميزة إضافية
