Job Purpose:

The procurement lead purchases all the necessary materials for the company's projects, searching for the most cost-effective and appropriate materials for each job. The procurement lead also ensures the materials arrive on time and within budget. That's no small feat in the construction world because prices on construction materials can fluctuate widely and with little warning.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Manages a procurement team and establishes procurement KPIs.
  • Conducting comprehensive product analysis and sourcing of materials and services.
  • Providing alternative recommendations to optimize procurement processes.
  • Managing inventory control duties to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Collaborating with internal teams to streamline procurement processes and maximize efficiency.
  • Implementing best practices in procurement and inventory control within the construction industry
  • Preparing, negotiating, and managing contractual arrangements with clients and subcontractors.
  • Providing commercial, contractual and procurement advice to the project management team.
  • Develop and implement supplier management programs and bench marking of vendors and establishing vendor database.
  • Track and review client contract conditions for projects and assist in notice and claim preparations as required.
  • Highlighting any major commercial, contractual or procurement risks or issues to the Commercials and working to reach a solution.
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders and key supplier contacts in relation to contractual and procurement related matters.
  • Ensuring that all commercial activities comply with contract terms and deliverables.
  • Analyzing and utilizing project and subcontractor cost reports and forecasts.
  • Plans, organizes, directs, and controls activities related to the procurement function.
  • Continuously evaluates market, delivery and pricing to determine present and future material availability to maximize profitability.
  • Designs, implements, manages, and monitors procurement reporting systems to meet company requirements.
  • Assigns procurement requests to the appropriate personnel.
  • Recruits and maintains suppliers that provide high quality products and services at a better price while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct.
  • Sources, Negotiates or supervises the negotiation of complex requests for equipment, supplies, and services from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Procures all necessary raw materials, tools, machinery, delivery trucks, needed for production or daily operation of the company, prepares and issues purchase orders and change notices.

Education Qualification and Experience:

  • Qualification in mechanical/electrical engineering.
  • Experience working with main EPCM, contractor or client side is a MUST
  • Experience in large scale MEP environment is a must
  • Experience in planning and financial reporting with a thorough understanding of the process involving variations.
  • Thorough knowledge of contractual documentation and procedures, including general conditions, special conditions, scope, precedence, progress claims and variation management.
  • Demonstrated experience in all facets of client and subcontractor negotiation.
  • The ability to build robust stakeholder relationships at all organization levels.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to prepare written correspondence, reports and instructions.
