Job Title: AR Maintenance Engineer — Field Support (1 Position)

About the Job

We are looking for a hands-on AR Maintenance Engineer (Field Support) to deploy, operate and maintain augmented-reality tools that assist our field service teams. In this role you will work at the intersection of hardware, software and operations — installing AR headsets and mobile AR apps, integrating AR content with device telemetry, troubleshooting field incidents, and training technicians to use AR-guided workflows for maintenance, inspections and repairs.

This is a field-facing role requiring travel to customer sites and close collaboration with maintenance, firmware, IoT and product teams to continuously improve AR workflows and operational outcomes.

Responsibilities

Field deployment & commissioning: Install and configure AR headsets and mobile AR apps (HoloLens, Magic Leap, Android/iOS AR), provision devices, manage updates and validate connectivity on site.

Operational support: Provide first-line and escalation support for AR hardware and software incidents; diagnose and resolve issues onsite or via remote assistance.

AR content management: Assist in authoring, updating and validating AR maintenance guides, 3D overlays and step-by-step procedures (Unity/Unreal or authoring tools).

Integration: Work with IoT and backend teams to link live telemetry, sensor readings and diagnostic data into AR experiences and remote assist sessions.

Training & enablement: Train field technicians and partners on AR workflows, perform knowledge transfer sessions, and produce concise user guides and quick-reference materials.

Quality & feedback loop: Collect field feedback, capture failure modes and propose improvements to AR content, UX, device management and operational processes.

Testing & QA: Execute acceptance tests for AR releases, confirm correct anchoring and tracking in typical field environments, and validate safety/visibility under real conditions.

Documentation & reporting: Maintain accurate deployment logs, incident reports and metrics about AR usage, uptime and operational impact.

Safety & compliance: Follow onsite safety procedures, ensure AR devices meet regulatory and customer safety requirements while performing maintenance tasks.

Qualifications

Experience: 2–5 years in field support, technical support or maintenance roles with at least 1 year working with AR/VR solutions or mobile AR apps.

AR platforms: Practical experience with AR hardware and SDKs (HoloLens / Mixed Reality, ARCore, ARKit, Magic Leap or equivalent) and content pipelines (Unity or Unreal preferred).

Technical skills: Comfortable with device provisioning, networking basics (Wi-Fi, VPN), troubleshooting mobile and wearable devices, and using remote-assist / WebRTC tools.

Hands-on aptitude: Ability to read electrical/mechanical schematics, perform basic hardware troubleshooting and use handheld diagnostic tools.

Communication: Strong verbal and written English; able to teach technical concepts to technicians and produce clear documentation.

Mobility: Willingness to travel to customer sites and perform physical tasks; valid driver's licence where required.

Attitude: Customer-focused, calm under pressure, methodical in troubleshooting and improvement oriented.

Nice to Have

Experience with remote assist and enterprise AR platforms (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Remote Assist, Vuforia, PTC, Scope AR).

Familiarity with IoT device stacks, telemetry ingestion or cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and basic scripting (Python, Bash).

Background in energy, UPS, battery systems, industrial automation or electronics maintenance.

Experience creating or editing 3D assets and annotations for AR overlays.
