Job Title: VR/AR Solutions Architect — Industrial Installations (1 Position)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced VR/AR Solutions Architect to lead the design, delivery and scaling of immersive solutions for industrial installation, commissioning and maintenance. You will own solution-level architecture (hardware, runtime, cloud, networking and content pipelines), translate operational requirements into reliable XR systems, and guide pilots from prototype to fleet deployment. This role combines hands-on technical design with customer-facing solutioning and cross-functional leadership.

Responsibilities

Define end-to-end XR solution architectures for industrial sites (HMDs, mobile AR, edge compute, connectivity, security, MDM).

Translate field workflows and maintenance procedures into immersive scenarios and interaction models that improve speed, safety and accuracy.

Select hardware and platform stacks (HoloLens, Meta Quest, Magic Leap, ARCore/ARKit) and justify trade-offs for tracking, latency and ergonomics in industrial conditions.

Specify content pipelines and tooling (Unity/Unreal, 3D asset management, photogrammetry) and set standards for performance, LOD, and asset reuse.

Design integrations with IoT/telemetry, CMMS/ERP systems and remote-assist backends so live equipment data and diagnostics are available inside XR.

Create deployment blueprints (device provisioning, OTA updates, enterprise MDM, user accounts, offline scenarios) and operational runbooks.

Lead pilot planning and execution—define acceptance criteria, KPIs, and phased rollout plans for device fleets.

Build SDKs, APIs or middleware patterns when needed to enable secure, low-latency connectivity between devices and cloud services.

Work with product, safety and compliance teams to ensure XR solutions meet industry safety and regulatory requirements.

Provide technical leadership to XR developers, field engineers and partners; review designs and mentor implementation teams.

Produce clear architecture docs, integration guides and customer-facing solution proposals.

Qualifications

5+ years delivering AR/VR solutions, with at least 2 years in an architect or senior technical lead role.

Strong practical experience with Unity or Unreal Engine and XR SDKs (Mixed Reality Toolkit, AR Foundation, OpenXR).

Proven track record designing and delivering industrial XR projects (on-site pilots to multi-device rollouts).

Solid understanding of device management, OTA provisioning and enterprise MDM solutions.

Experience integrating XR with IoT, telemetry streams, REST/gRPC APIs and enterprise systems (ERP, CMMS).

Familiar with networking constraints in field environments (Wi-Fi, cellular, offline-first design) and methods to ensure robust tracking/anchoring.

Hands-on familiarity with 3D asset pipelines, optimization (LODs, lightmaps), and performance profiling on constrained devices.

Strong systems thinking: cloud components (edge vs cloud trade-offs), security (TLS, auth, key management) and scalability.

Excellent stakeholder communication—able to present architecture and commercial trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, HCI, or equivalent experience.

Nice to Have

Prior work in energy, UPS, battery systems, heavy industry or field-service workflows.

Experience with remote-assist platforms (Dynamics 365 Remote Assist, Vuforia Expert Capture, Scope AR) and multi-user XR.

Knowledge of photogrammetry, 3D scanning, or reality capture workflows.

Familiarity with safety standards and certification processes for industrial equipment and wearables.

Experience with edge compute patterns and TinyML deployments for onsite inference.
