Job Description

Recruiting an Arabic Speaking Clinical or Counselling Psychologist (Addictions Specialist), to be based in a specialist facility / halfway house setting in Abu Dhabi , UAE, working for a Govn Initiative for a Mental Health & Wellness clinic treating Adults +18 yrs.

Role: Clinical or Counselling Psychologist (Addictions Specialist).

Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Hours: 5 days per week, 30 clinical hrs.

Salary & Benefits: Fixed salary between AED 35,000 and AED 45,000 + Standard UAE benefits. Professional license costs covered. Private Medical Insurance. Public Indemnity. Up to 30 days paid holiday. Airtickets.

Summary: Diagnose and treat individuals suffering from psychological distress. Develop treatment and prevention plans. Provide psychological treatment. Administer and interpret psychological assessment and testing. Conduct psychological research.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • MUST have at least 5 yrs relevant experience in a Clinic / Out Patient setting, specializing in Addiction Therapy.
  • MUST hold DoH / DHA / MoH license or eligibility.
  • MUST have excellent communication and Arabic language skills + English.
  • IDEALLY already locally based in UAE with residency Visa.
  • Working in a half-way house model for people with addictions, residential space for 18 people, following a comprehensive recovery program individual and group therapy (CBT, DBT etc), vocational training, physical therapy. Outpatient follow up.
  • Full MDT including psychiatry, psychology, peer recovery workers, support workers, nurses, GP etc.
  • Not a detox facility so anyone in the program will have already been detoxed in a medical facility or not need one.
  • Must be able to join within 3 months.

Primary Responsibility:

  • Assessing and diagnosing abilities or behaviour by conducting a clinical assessment, interviews, liaison with families or cares and applying psychometric tests
  • Applying and interpreting standardized assessment scales or measures, and preparing comprehensive psychological and psycho-educational assessment reports.
  • Providing appropriate therapy based on the individual needs.
  • Leading group therapy of different age groups and levels of functioning.
  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Working with outside organisations to provide recommendations and advice regarding individual needs based on the outcome of the assessments.
  • Supervising support staff assisting in psychological assessment and intervention.
  • Attending educational events such as conferences, and training seminars as required.
