The Cost Accountant is responsible for overseeing cost accounting, inventory valuation, and financial control for meat trading and processing operations. This role ensures accurate recording of production and trading transactions, detailed cost analysis, inventory reconciliation, and control of factory and warehouse expenses. The position supports management with timely reporting, cost optimization insights, and strong internal controls across processing plants, cold stores, and trading activities.

Accounting & Financial Control

  • Maintain accurate accounting records for factory, processing, and trading operations in the general ledger.
  • Record and verify purchase invoices for livestock, raw meat, packaging materials, and processing supplies.
  • Reconcile purchases, sales, and inter-company/inter-warehouse transfers on a regular basis.
  • Monitor accounts payable and receivable related to suppliers, customers, and service providers.

Cost & Production Accounting

  • Record and control production costs, including raw materials, yield losses, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Track processing costs such as slaughtering, cutting, packing, freezing, storage, and logistics.
  • Calculate and monitor Cost of Goods Manufactured (COGM) and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS).
  • Analyze yield variances, waste, shrinkage, and overhead absorption.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and operational inefficiencies.

Inventory & Stock Control

  • Reconcile physical inventory with system and accounting records.
  • Participate in physical stock counts and cycle counts at factories, cold stores, and warehouses.
  • Monitor stock aging, expiry, and valuation accuracy.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly cost and gross margin reports.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual factory-related financial statements.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, pricing, and profitability analysis.

Reconciliations & Internal Controls

  • Perform supplier, inventory, production, and inter-departmental reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and company policies.
  • Support internal and external audits.

Coordination & Business Support

  • Work closely with production, quality, warehouse, procurement, logistics, and sales teams.
  • Coordinate with Head Office finance for consolidated reporting.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to the Chief Accountant / Finance Manager.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Cost Accounting, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in cost or factory accounting within food manufacturing, meat processing, or meat trading.
  • Strong hands-on experience in production costing, inventory control, and yield analysis.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems and MS Excel.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced factory environment.
  • Good communication and cross-functional coordination skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in meat processing, frozen food, or food trading companies.
  • Exposure to cold storage or warehouse accounting systems.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Contract length: 24 months

Pay: AED4, AED4,500.00 per month
