Join Us as a Head of Engineer at Ounass:

At Ounass, we're looking for a Head of Engineering to lead, scale, and empower our engineering organization while aligning technology with business priorities. This role sets the strategic direction for architecture, delivery, and technical excellence, ensuring systems are secure, scalable, and customer-centric. By fostering a high-performance and inclusive culture, mentoring senior talent, and driving innovation, the Head of Engineering will balance long-term vision with execution. The focus will be on enabling robust delivery, sound engineering practices, and continuous improvements in quality, efficiency, and impact ultimately elevating the luxury e-commerce experience for our customers.

The role is BASED IN DUBAI - role is onsite hybrid. Remote working is not available for this position.

• Define and drive the long-term technology vision aligned with company strategy.
• Translate business priorities into scalable engineering roadmaps.
• Lead organizational planning for engineering growth, including structure and team development.
• Champion a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and innovative thinking.
• Guide adoption of emerging technologies that deliver business value.
• Establish and maintain high standards for software delivery and performance.
• Oversee architectural governance and technology risk management.
• Lead engineering planning, including estimation, resource allocation, and delivery metrics.
• Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to ensure successful execution of product initiatives.
• Drive secure, compliant, and maintainable systems in a complex product ecosystem.
• Provide technical leadership in decision-making, trade-offs, and scalability.
• Hire, mentor, and develop senior engineering leaders and managers.
• Create career paths and growth plans for engineers across levels.
• Drive team alignment through regular feedback, coaching, and performance evaluation.
• Resolve cross-team conflicts and enable cohesive team collaboration.
• Lead by example, encouraging open communication and continuous learning.
  

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years in engineering, with at least 3+ years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven experience scaling engineering organizations and leading distributed teams.
• Strong business alignment: ability to connect engineering execution with business strategy.
• Skilled in technical decision-making, managing ambiguity, and scaling architecture.
• Deep understanding of product delivery, tech debt management, and quality trade-offs.
• Expertise in team leadership, coaching, and performance management.
• Familiarity with domain knowledge in e-commerce, security, compliance, and customer-facing systems.
• Ability to influence across functions and effectively communicate with executive stakeholders.
• Excellent strategic planning, risk management, and resource allocation skills.
• Awareness of trends in engineering practices, tooling, and emerging technologies.
  
• Excellent organizational skills with an eye for detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Strong understanding of online consumer behavior.
