**Hair Assistant Job Description**

**Position Title**: Assistant Hair Stylist / Hair Assistant

**Reports To**: Lead Stylist/Salon Manager

**Position Summary**:
The Hair Assistant supports the salon’s operations and ensures an exceptional client experience by assisting hairstylists with various tasks. Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness, preparing clients, and performing basic hair care services under the guidance of senior stylists.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Client Preparation and Support**:

- Greet clients warmly and check them in.
- Escort clients to their seats and ensure they are comfortable.
- Assist in shampooing, conditioning, and rinsing hair.
- Prepare clients for services by draping and sectioning hair as needed.
- **Stylist Assistance**:

- Provide support to hairstylists during haircuts, color treatments, and styling.
- Hand stylists tools and supplies during services.
- Mix hair color and other chemical treatments under stylist supervision.
- **Salon Maintenance**:

- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, tools, and equipment.
- Sterilize and sanitize scissors, combs, clippers, and other tools after each use.
- Ensure towels and capes are cleaned and stocked.
- Sweep hair and clean floors regularly to maintain a tidy salon environment.
- **Customer Service**:

- Offer refreshments and reading materials to clients.
- Answer phone calls and book appointments when needed.
- Address client inquiries and concerns with professionalism and courtesy.
- **Inventory Management**:

- Monitor and restock supplies such as shampoos, conditioners, and styling products.
- Assist with inventory checks and ordering new supplies as directed by the salon manager.
- **Professional Development**:

- Attend training sessions and stay updated on new hair care techniques and trends.
- Assist in marketing and promotional activities as needed.

**Qualifications**:

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Enrollment in or completion of a cosmetology program is preferred.
- Previous experience in a salon or customer service role is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of basic hair care products and tools.
