Machine Operator

**Machine Operation**:

- Operate machines such as CNC machines, lathes, milling machines, presses, or injection molding machines to produce parts or products.
- Monitor machine performance during production to ensure quality, efficiency, and adherence to specifications.
- Adjust machine settings as necessary (speed, pressure, temperature, etc.) to ensure optimal performance.
- **Machine Setup & Calibration**:

- Set up machines by installing or adjusting tooling, changing parts, or preparing equipment for production runs.
- Calibrate machines to meet precise specifications and ensure accurate product output.
- **Quality Control**:

- Inspect finished products for defects, ensuring they meet quality standards.
- Measure dimensions of parts using tools such as calipers, micrometers, or gauges.
- Document quality control findings and report any deviations or malfunctions to supervisors.
- **Maintenance & Troubleshooting**:

- Perform basic maintenance tasks like cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts.
- Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and resolve minor technical issues or report more serious problems to maintenance staff or supervisors.
- Ensure machines are operating within safety guidelines to avoid accidents or downtime.
- **Safety Compliance**:

- Follow all safety protocols to minimize risk and ensure a safe working environment (e.g., wearing protective equipment, following lock-out/tag-out procedures).
- Keep the work area clean and organized to prevent accidents and improve efficiency.
- Be aware of machine hazards and take corrective actions as necessary.
- **Documentation & Reporting**:

- Keep accurate records of machine settings, production data, and any maintenance or repairs performed.
- Report production output, quality issues, or equipment malfunctions to supervisors.
- Fill out daily production logs and record machine downtime or maintenance needs.
- **Team Collaboration**:

- Work with other machine operators, production staff, and supervisors to coordinate production schedules and resolve issues.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss production goals, machine performance, and safety protocols.
- **Continuous Improvement**:

- Suggest process improvements to enhance machine efficiency and reduce waste or downtime.
- Stay updated on new machinery, tools, or technologies that can improve operations.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

- **Education**: High school diploma or equivalent is typically required. Some positions may require specialized technical training or certifications, such as a machinist or CNC certification.
- **Technical Skills**: Knowledge of machinery operation, setup, and troubleshooting. Familiarity with machine-specific software or controls may be necessary for more advanced machines (e.g., CNC).
- **Attention to Detail**: Ability to inspect products carefully, ensure machine precision, and monitor for any inconsistencies in product quality.
- **Problem-Solving Skills**: Ability to identify and troubleshoot machine issues quickly to minimize downtime.
- **Physical Stamina**: The role often requires standing for long periods, lifting heavy items, and performing repetitive tasks.
- **Safety Awareness**: Strong understanding of safety procedures and the ability to follow them rigorously to prevent accidents.
- **Communication Skills**: Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members about machine performance, issues, and solutions.
- **Mathematical Skills**: Basic math skills for measuring materials, calculating dimensions, and performing machine adjustments.

Certifications (Optional but Beneficial):

- **CNC Operator Certification** or **Machinist Certification**.
