Head of Sound, Sound Designer, Sound Engineer

Assistant Head of Sound

Reporting to the Head of Sound and Technical Director:

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Assist Head of Sound to manage and oversee sound operations as needed;
2. Apply corrective measures as required by the Head of Sound;
3. Collaborate with the Head of Sound to ensure the sound concept is respected;
4. Collaborate with the Head of Sound with adjustments needed for buyout performances and extra events held in the La Perle theatre;
5. Lead the Sound Team in the Head of Sound's absence;
6. Operate all SVC (Sound, Video, Comms) show tracks during rehearsals and performances;
7. Ensure that all SVC systems are functioning smoothly;
8. Ensure the sound team and technical personnel respect standards and regulations regarding the safety of sound equipment, and apply safe work methods;
9. Train and supervise sound technicians as planned;
10. Inspect and maintain sound equipment, and keep records of inspections and alterations;
11. Keep sound archives, stock lists and technical documentation up to date;
12. Respect and support procedures and requirements set by Al Habtoor/La Perle;
13. Maintain a positive working atmosphere for the Sound team;
14. Strong skills in maintenance of Sound, Video and Communications systems.

Qualifications

1. College diploma (or equivalent) in live entertainment, theatre production, sound technology or electronics (or equivalent work experience);
2. Six to eight years' experience as a Sound Engineer working in live professional performance;
3. Strong technical knowledge of digital & analogue sound equipment;
4. Good general understanding of all technical aspects of a show;
5. Ability to work with a small team and take directions from HOD;
6. Flexibility, autonomy, team player;
7. Ability to handle contingencies and work well under pressure;
8. Strong knowledge of both Mac OSX & Windows;
9. Fluency in spoken and written English is essential.
