- Diagnose and treat illnesses, injuries, and other health conditions in dairy cattle.
- Perform regular health checks and clinical assessments.
- Administer vaccinations, medications, and other treatments as required. Preventative Care:
- Develop and implement herd health programs to prevent diseases and infections.
- Monitor and manage biosecurity protocols to maintain a disease-free environment.
- Conduct routine deworming, hoof care, and other preventative measures. Reproductive Management:
- Oversee artificial insemination (AI) and natural breeding programs.
- Diagnose and manage reproductive disorders.
- Monitor and assist with calving processes and neonatal care. Nutrition and Productivity:
- Collaborate with nutritionists to optimize feeding programs.
- Monitor milk production and advise on strategies to enhance yield and quality. Record Keeping and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for all animals.
- Prepare and submit regular health and productivity reports to management. Training and
Education:
- Educate farm staff on best practices in animal handling, health monitoring, and hygiene.
- Conduct workshops or training sessions for continuous knowledge improvement. Emergency Care:
- Respond promptly to emergency situations such as injuries, calving difficulties, or outbreaks.
- Perform surgical procedures as needed. Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all practices comply with local veterinary regulations and farm policies.
