This role demands deep expertise in FIDIC contracts and UAE construction law, strong leadership, and a proactive approach to risk and dispute management.Key ResponsibilitiesInterpret and implement FIDIC contract conditions and UAE-specific clauses Advise project teams on contractual rights, obligations, and risksEnsure timely compliance with notice requirements (e.g., Sub-Clause 20.1 / 20.2)Coordinate with the Engineer on determinations, variations, and claimsReview and manage contractual correspondence for consistency and defensibilityEstablish and maintain project budgets and value management systemsMonitor cash flow, earned value, and cost-to-complete metricsEvaluate variations and prepare substantiated cost proposalsControl subcontractor costs in alignment with main contract termsDeliver monthly CVRs and financial summaries to stakeholdersIdentify potential claims (delays, disruptions, legislative changes)Submit timely and substantiated claims per FIDIC timelinesCoordinate multidisciplinary claim preparationNegotiate and defend claims with Engineer/EmployerMaintain a comprehensive claims registerManage variation processes: identification, notification, valuation, agreementAssess Engineer's instructions for entitlement to time/cost adjustmentsMaintain contemporaneous records to support claimsSupport Engineer/Employer determinations with detailed substantiationManage variation processes: identification, notification, valuation, agreement Assess Engineer's instructions for entitlement to time/cost adjustmentsMaintain contemporaneous records to support claimsSupport Engineer/Employer determinations with detailed substantiationPrepare interim payment applications per contract termsReview payment certificates and resolve disputesMonitor retention, advance recovery, and final account closureSupport Statement at Completion and Final Statement preparationIdentify and manage commercial risks and opportunitiesAdvise on mitigation and exploitation strategiesMaintain and review commercial risk register with leadershipLiaise with Engineer, Employer, and consultants on commercial mattersCoordinate with internal teams to capture commercial impactsSupport executive reporting and strategic decisionsLead and mentor commercial and quantity surveying teamsEnsure consistent application of procurement and reporting proceduresTrain staff in FIDIC, cost management, and claims documentationPromote proactive dispute avoidance and procedural compliancePrepare and manage DAB submissionsAssist legal counsel in arbitration or formal dispute resolutionSkills & Experience RequirementsBachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field Professional certification (e.g., MRICS, PMP, or equivalent) is highly desirableStrong knowledge of FIDIC contracts and UAE construction lawMinimum 10 years of total experience in commercial management within the construction industry At least 5 years in a senior commercial or contract administration role on large-scale infrastructure or building projects in the UAE or GCC regionProven experience managing claims, variations, and final accounts under FIDIC-based contractsDemonstrated leadership of commercial teams, including mentoring and performance management #J-18808-Ljbffr
