Roles and responsibilities
  • Perform all routine preventative maintenance and curative maintenance
  • Order and monitor fuels, lubricants and repair parts
  • Maintain clean and tidy plant rooms
  • Maintain a level of broader knowledge which enables you to handle minor problems in all fields of the department
  • Attend to all types of repairs and maintenance work in the Hotel premises, including any new additions / extensions to the Hotel or any other properties maintained by the Hotel.
  • Repair and maintain guest room facilities, light facilities, furniture and equipment
  • Assist with the implementation of the hotel's preventative maintenance system and repair log system
  • Prioritize work in line with guest requests and management
  • Inform superior of the status of repairs and pending costs and indicate when it would be reasonable to consider replacement
  • Record daily service work, including maintaining individual replacement costs along with time/task labour hours cost
  • Participate in instructing colleagues on the proper operation, safety procedures and cleaning of all equipment.
  • Establish and maintain proper parts inventory levels
  • Conduct and/or participate in staff meeting regarding proper operating and maintenance practices of equipment
  • Implement and carry out maintenance program in accordance with established timeframes
  • Carry out and document regular inspections of plant and equipment in computerised system
  • Ensure that appropriate files are maintained and resources kept for future reference
  • Complete daily reports outlining work undertaken for the day
  • Explore and incorporate environmentally friendly initiatives
  • Efficient and effective use of recycling methods.

What we need from you:

  • Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience with the similar position in a five star Hotels or similar organization.
  • Interpersonal written and verbal communication skills.
  • Having trade license / HACCP training certificate / or any other technical certificate would be encouraged.
Desired candidate profile

1. Technical and Mechanical Skills

  • Basic Repair Knowledge: Ability to perform routine repairs on electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC systems, and other mechanical equipment commonly found in buildings or facilities.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnosing issues with equipment, machinery, and systems, and knowing how to fix problems quickly and efficiently.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Performing regular inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure that systems, equipment, and facilities are functioning properly and preventing breakdowns.

2. Problem-Solving and Decision-Making

  • Quick Response to Issues: Identifying and resolving maintenance issues promptly to minimize disruption and maintain a safe and comfortable environment.
  • Resourcefulness: Finding cost-effective and efficient solutions to maintenance problems, especially when dealing with limited resources or time constraints.
  • Prioritization: Assessing the urgency of repair tasks and prioritizing them based on the safety and operational needs of the building or facility.

3. Attention to Detail

  • Thorough Inspections: Paying close attention to detail when inspecting equipment, plumbing, electrical systems, and other infrastructure to identify issues early.
  • Quality Control: Ensuring that all repairs are done correctly and to a high standard, preventing future problems and ensuring the safety of the premises.
  • Documentation: Accurately recording maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and replacements for future reference and to track the condition of the facility.

4. Knowledge of Safety Standards

  • Safety Protocols: Understanding and following safety guidelines for working with electrical systems, chemicals, heavy equipment, and other potential hazards.
  • Compliance: Ensuring that all maintenance activities comply with local building codes, regulations, and safety standards, including using appropriate protective equipment.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Being prepared for emergency situations such as power outages, fire hazards, or plumbing failures and knowing how to respond safely and quickly.

5. Physical Stamina and Strength

  • Manual Labor: The role often requires lifting, carrying, bending, and working in confined spaces. A strong physical condition is important for handling tools and performing repairs.
  • Standing or Moving for Long Periods: Working on your feet for extended periods, often in varying weather conditions or challenging environments.
  • Heavy Lifting: Capable of lifting heavy equipment or materials when necessary.

6. Communication Skills

  • Clear Instructions: Communicating effectively with supervisors, other maintenance staff, and management to understand tasks and explain solutions.
  • Reporting: Accurately reporting issues, repairs, and maintenance needs to the appropriate parties, ensuring that work orders are completed correctly.
  • Teamwork: Collaborating with other team members and departments, especially in larger facilities where teamwork is necessary to complete repairs or improvements.

7. Time Management and Organization

  • Scheduling: Managing time effectively to complete multiple tasks throughout the day, including emergency repairs, routine checks, and preventive maintenance.
  • Record Keeping: Keeping accurate logs of maintenance tasks, repairs, parts, and service providers, ensuring that the work history of the facility is well-documented.
  • Efficient Workflow: Prioritizing tasks to make sure that the most critical maintenance needs are addressed first without neglecting routine work.
