Essential Roles and Responsibilities
Functional Roles and Responsibilities

• Welcome customers into the store; identify their needs through asking questions; recommend and demonstrate appropriate products; recommend link products; close the sale; provide professional till point service; follow up with regular customers; maintain personal grooming standards; deal professionally with customer complaints. Advise customers about promotions in store

• Ensure product / hygiene guidelines and merchandise of products, as per the defined standards

• Rotate stocks to ensure that existing stock is displayed in front of new items on the shelves

• Maintain housekeeping standards, including window displays

• Check stock levels daily and recommend orders to the store manager / counter supervisor in order to replenish and maintain optimum stock levels

• Ensure all store and office administration, as per manager's request, is completed accurately and on time, including customer database cards

• Comply with all company policies and procedures

Key Responsibilities of a Beauty Specialist:

1. Skincare and Facial Treatments

  • Skin analysis: Assess clients' skin types and conditions to recommend suitable skincare products and treatments.
  • Facial treatments: Perform facials to cleanse, exfoliate, and treat clients' skin, using products suited for their skin type (e.g., anti-aging, acne treatments, hydration).
  • Advanced skin treatments: Offer services such as microdermabrasion, chemical peels, or dermaplaning for more intensive skin care.

2. Hair Removal

  • Waxing and sugaring: Provide hair removal services for various body areas, including eyebrows, legs, arms, and bikini areas.
  • Threading: Offer threading services, especially for facial hair removal (e.g., eyebrows, upper lip).
  • Laser hair removal: Administer laser treatments for long-term hair reduction (if certified and trained).

3. Makeup Application

  • Makeup services: Apply makeup for various occasions, including daily makeup, special events, bridal, or evening looks.
  • Makeup consultation: Advise clients on makeup techniques, product recommendations, and colors that suit their skin tone and preferences.
  • Bridal and special occasion makeup: Specialize in makeup applications for weddings, photoshoots, and other events.

4. Body Treatments

  • Body wraps and scrubs: Perform treatments like body wraps, exfoliation scrubs, or mud treatments to improve skin texture and relaxation.
  • Massage therapies: Offer services like relaxing body massages or lymphatic drainage massages to promote relaxation and rejuvenation.

5. Nail Care

  • Manicures and pedicures: Provide nail care services such as manicures, pedicures, and nail art, including gel and acrylic nails.
  • Nail treatments: Offer treatments like cuticle care, nail strengthening, and hand or foot massages.

6. Client Consultation and Personalized Care

  • Personalized beauty plans: Assess clients' beauty goals and recommend suitable treatments, products, and routines to achieve the desired results.
  • Product recommendations: Advise clients on skincare, makeup, and hair products that would work best for their needs, and help them select the right products for home use.
  • Client education: Educate clients about proper skincare, makeup application techniques, and how to maintain their beauty treatments at home.

7. Maintaining Cleanliness and Hygiene

  • Sanitization practices: Follow strict hygiene protocols by cleaning tools, equipment, and workstations before and after each client to maintain a safe and sanitary environment.
  • Product handling: Ensure that products are properly stored, and handled in accordance with safety and quality guidelines.

8. Retail Sales and Product Knowledge

  • Selling beauty products: Promote and sell beauty products (e.g., skincare, makeup) to clients, educating them on the benefits and uses of different items.
  • Inventory management: Assist in inventory management by tracking product usage, ensuring products are stocked, and replenishing supplies when necessary.

9. Keeping Up with Trends

  • Staying updated on trends: Stay current with the latest beauty trends, techniques, and products by attending training sessions, workshops, and following industry developments.
  • Adapting to new technologies: Learn and apply new beauty technologies, such as LED light therapy, microcurrent facials, or other innovative skin and beauty treatments.
