Roles and responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver courses to students in the specified discipline areas of study, considering and aiming to achieve the three (3) fundamental university standards: Teaching, Research, and Services.
  • Evaluate and monitor individual student progress and provide feedback to sustain student success.
  • Conduct high-quality research in his/her own field and publish research outcomes in reputable journals and conferences.
  • Pursuing research in relevant biomedical sciences and/or pedagogy, organize and manage instructional resources, course outlines, and community networks.
  • Supporting and expanding curricular development in Psychiatry in consonance with other basic and clinical medical science subjects and linking to clinical sciences.
  • Actively seek out methods, procedures, and resources to best achieve course objectives.
  • Support and participate in accreditation initiatives.
  • Maintain relationships with students that are conducive to learning.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Basic medical degree (MBBS/MD).
  • Earned Ph.D. Degree or a terminal clinical qualification (exit degree) in Psychiatry from an accredited institution.
  • Board-certified in Psychiatry and eligible for registration and licencing as a clinical practitioner in the UAE.
  • Previous experience teaching in an integrated systems-based curriculum.
  • Previous involvement in Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Team-Based Learning (TBL) educational processes (i.e., development, tutor-guide preparation, facilitation, assessment) will be highly desirable.
  • The candidate must be able to communicate in English.
  • Advanced use of technology in the education process (delivering classes via presentations, using e-learning systems, reports, etc.).

  • Ability to work effectively with multiple diverse communities.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
Desired candidate profile
  • Clinical Expertise: Advanced clinical knowledge and expertise in diagnosing and treating a wide range of psychiatric conditions. The ability to conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and provide evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Psychotherapy Skills: Proficiency in different therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, family therapy, and crisis intervention.
  • Teaching and Communication: Strong skills in teaching, mentoring, and communicating complex psychiatric concepts to medical students, residents, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Research and Analytical Skills: Ability to design and conduct clinical research in psychiatry, analyze research data, and contribute to the academic literature in the field.
  • Crisis Management: Ability to manage psychiatric emergencies, including cases of self-harm, acute psychosis, or suicidal ideation.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: The ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary healthcare teams and collaborate with professionals from other specialties to provide integrated care for patients.
  • Ethical and Professional Practice: Adherence to ethical standards in clinical practice, research, and education. This includes maintaining patient confidentiality, providing culturally sensitive care, and advocating for patients' rights.
