Roles and responsibilities
  • Develop and delivercourses to students in the specified discipline areas of study,considering and aiming to achieve the three (3) fundamentaluniversity standards: Teaching, Research, andServices.
  • Evaluate and monitor individualstudent progress and provide feedback to sustain studentsuccess.
  • Conduct high-quality research inhis/her own field and publish research outcomes in reputablejournals and conferences.
  • Pursuing research inrelevant biomedical sciences and/or pedagogy, organize and manageinstructional resources, course outlines, and communitynetworks.
  • Supporting and expanding curriculardevelopment in Psychiatry in consonance with other basic andclinical medical science subjects and linking to clinicalsciences.
  • Actively seek out methods,procedures, and resources to best achieve courseobjectives.
  • Support and participate inaccreditation initiatives.
  • Maintainrelationships with students that are conducive tolearning.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-relatedduties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Basicmedical degree (MBBS/MD).
  • Earned Ph.D. Degreeor a terminal clinical qualification (exit degree) in Psychiatryfrom an accredited institution.
  • Board-certifiedin Psychiatry and eligible for registration and licencing as aclinical practitioner in the UAE.
  • Previousexperience teaching in an integrated systems-basedcurriculum.
  • Previous involvement inProblem-Based Learning (PBL) and Team-Based Learning (TBL)educational processes (i.e., development, tutor-guide preparation,facilitation, assessment) will be highlydesirable.
  • The candidate must be able tocommunicate in English.
  • Advanced use oftechnology in the education process (delivering classes viapresentations, using e-learning systems, reports, etc.).

  • Familiarity with LearningManagement Systems (LMS).

  • ClinicalExpertise: Advanced clinical knowledge and expertisein diagnosing and treating a wide range of psychiatric conditions.The ability to conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and provideevidence-based treatmentplans.
  • PsychotherapySkills: Proficiency in different therapeuticmodalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT),psychodynamic therapy, family therapy, and crisisintervention.
  • Teaching andCommunication: Strong skills in teaching, mentoring,and communicating complex psychiatric concepts to medical students,residents, and other healthcareprofessionals.
  • Research andAnalytical Skills: Ability to design and conductclinical research in psychiatry, analyze research data, andcontribute to the academic literature in thefield.
  • CrisisManagement: Ability to manage psychiatricemergencies, including cases of self-harm, acute psychosis, orsuicidalideation.
  • InterdisciplinaryCollaboration: The ability to work effectivelywithin interdisciplinary healthcare teams and collaborate withprofessionals from other specialties to provide integrated care forpatients.
  • Ethical andProfessional Practice: Adherence to ethicalstandards in clinical practice, research, and education. Thisincludes maintaining patient confidentiality, providing culturallysensitive care, and advocating for patients'rights.
