OverviewThe Department of Mechanical Engineering (MCE) in the College of Engineering at American University of Sharjah (AUS) invites applications for a regular or visiting faculty position at the assistant, associate or full professor level commencing in Fall Semester 2026. The regular position expects establishing a high-level, active research program supported by internal and external funding sources. The visiting faculty positions are primarily focused on teaching; the visiting position is a one-year renewable contract. The applicant is required to have a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field and show evidence of a significant teaching portfolio. Evidence of excellence in teaching and research is expected from the candidates. Experience in the American model of higher education is highly desirable.
ResponsibilitiesRegular faculty: establish and sustain a high-impact research program with internal and external funding; contribute to teaching and service as appropriate to rank. Visiting faculty: primarily focus on teaching responsibilities; may participate in department activities as appropriate to the teaching role. The department offers B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering and is involved in multidisciplinary programs such as the B.S. in Intelligent Systems and Mechatronics Engineering, M.S. in Mechatronics Engineering, M.S. in Biomedical Engineering, Ph.D. in Material Science and Engineering, and Ph.D. in Bioscience and Bioengineering. AUS is located in the Emirate of Sharjah (about 15 km from Dubai) and serves more than 5,700 students. AUS is licensed and accredited by the UAE Ministry of Education and by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education in the USA.
