The Energy Manager optimizes energy use, reduces costs, and drives sustainability across 2,600 facilities. Using technologies like IoT and renewables, they enhance efficiency, ensure compliance, and align initiatives with corporate sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Energy Strategy Development: Create and implement energy management plans aligned with business objectives and sustainability goals.
- IoT Monitoring and Control: Deploy IoT solutions for real-time energy monitoring, temperature compliance, and automated system controls.
- Cost Optimization: Identify and implement energy-saving initiatives to reduce utility expenses.
- Sustainability Initiatives: Lead projects to achieve carbon reduction and align with ESG goals.
- Solar Proof of Concept: Design and oversee pilot solar energy projects to evaluate feasibility and scalability across locations.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to local and international energy and environmental regulations.
- Technology Integration: Implement energy-efficient technologies, such as renewable energy systems, IoT and others that integrate with facilities and maintenance systems.
- Training and Awareness: Educate staff on energy-saving practices and foster a culture of sustainability.
- Reporting: Develop and present regular reports on energy performance, cost savings, and sustainability progress.
- Budget Management: Develop accurate capital expenditure (CapEx) forecasts to support energy initiatives, while monitoring and controlling utility expenses and related costs to ensure financial efficiency.
- Waste Management: Develop and support execution of waste management strategy, including existing estate and design guidelines for all remodel and new stores.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with internal teams and external partners to execute energy projects and initiatives effectively.
Qualification:
- Bachelor's degree in Energy Management, Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field.
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) – highly preferred.
- Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) or other energy-related certifications.
- Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional.
- IoT or smart building technology certifications (e.g., IoT Energy Specialist).
Experience: -
- Proven experience (5-10 years) in energy management, facilities management, or a related role.
- Demonstrated success in implementing energy-saving projects and technologies.
- Experience with IoT systems (LoRa preferred), renewable energy solutions, and smart building technologies.
- Regional Travel: Must visit each market minimum once per year (x3 for large markets) and demonstrate visible leadership, whilst executing projects, initiatives and proof of concepts.
- Strong background in sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives.
Job Specific Skills:
- Proficiency in energy monitoring systems and building management systems (BMS).Technical knowledge on MEP / HVAC systems.
- Familiarity with IoT applications for energy control and optimization (Lora).
- Knowledge of renewable energy systems (e.g., solar, wind) and grid integration.
- Understanding of energy regulations, compliance standards, and certification processes.
Generic Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for identifying and implementing energy-saving opportunities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Project management expertise to lead initiatives and meet deadlines effectively.
- Strategic thinking and the ability to align energy goals with organizational objectives.
- Knowledge of financial forecasting and budget management related to energy initiatives.
- Familiarity with international energy standards and best practices.
- Business Case Development: Demonstrated ability to develop comprehensive and compelling business case proposals, clearly articulating benefits and strong presentation skills.
