Job Summary:
The Production Manager will oversee the operations of our high-end joinery factory. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing production processes while maintaining premium craftsmanship. This role requires expertise in joinery manufacturing, CNC machinery, material handling, and workforce management. The Production Manager will ensure smooth factory operations, implement lean manufacturing principles, and drive efficiency while maintaining strict quality control. Experience in the GCC region and familiarity with local regulations, suppliers, and workforce management is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Factory Operations & Production Management:
- Oversee the entire production process from raw material preparation to final product delivery.
- Ensure that workshop operations run smoothly and efficiently, meeting project timelines and budgets.
- Optimize workflows, material handling, and production line efficiency to enhance productivity.
- Supervise joinery workshop activities, ensuring precision and adherence to high-end finishing standards.
2. Joinery & Woodworking Process Optimization:
- Manage CNC machining, edge banding, veneering, polishing, and assembly processes.
- Monitor the usage of solid wood, MDF, veneer, laminates, and other fit-out materials.
- Implement process improvements to minimize waste, reduce production time, and increase cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure proper surface treatment, polishing, and finishing techniques for premium joinery works.
3. Workforce Supervision & Team Leadership:
- Lead and manage a multi-skilled workforce, including joiners, carpenters, machine operators, and finishing specialists.
- Train, develop, and upskill team members in the latest woodworking and joinery techniques.
- Allocate work efficiently, ensuring teams meet deadlines, quality standards, and project goals.
- Address labor issues, maintain a motivated and disciplined workforce, and implement safety training programs.
4. Quality Control & Compliance:
- Enforce strict quality control checks throughout the production process.
- Ensure adherence to client specifications, technical drawings, and project requirements.
- Maintain compliance with GCC safety regulations, fire-rated joinery standards, and factory operational policies.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to maintain premium craftsmanship and minimize defects.
5. Procurement & Inventory Management:
- Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely material availability for production.
- Optimize material usage to reduce waste and control costs.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and inventory tracking of wood, laminates, adhesives, and hardware.
- Collaborate with suppliers to source high-quality joinery materials at competitive prices.
6. Project Coordination & Client Expectations:
- Work closely with project managers, designers, and site teams to align production with client requirements.
- Ensure the seamless execution of bespoke joinery elements for luxury interior projects.
- Provide technical advice and manufacturing feasibility analysis for new designs.
- Ensure timely dispatch and installation coordination for large-scale projects.
7. Lean Manufacturing & Factory Growth Strategy:
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Monitor KPIs, production targets, and efficiency metrics to drive improvements.
- Strategize for factory expansion, automation integration, and workforce optimization.
- Stay updated with new woodworking technologies, CNC innovations, and industry trends.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Production Management, Industrial Engineering, Wood Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in joinery and woodworking production, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Proven experience in the GCC region, with knowledge of local regulations, material sourcing, and workforce management.
- Strong knowledge of joinery production techniques, woodworking machinery, and finishing processes.
- Expertise in CNC operations, panel processing, edge banding, and custom joinery production.
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and technical specifications.
- Experience implementing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and team management skills.
- Familiarity with HSE standards, fire-rated joinery, and sustainability practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in luxury joinery, bespoke furniture, and high-end interior fit-out projects.
- Experience in setting up a joinery factory from scratch, including machinery selection, workflow planning, and operational setup.
- Familiarity with GCC market dynamics, material suppliers, and workforce regulations.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, woodworking software, and ERP systems for production tracking.
- Ability to integrate advanced manufacturing technologies to enhance productivity.
