  • Engineering design knowledge of oiland gas pipelines and associated systems such as pump stations,compressor stations, metering and regulating stations, slugcatchers, tank farms and otherfacilities.
  • Feasibility studies, conceptualdesign, FEED, detail design, procurement support, construction,testing and commissioning.
  • Piping design,stress analysis, piping material selection, equipment and rotatingmachinery.
  • Ability to produce specifications,datasheets, material requisitions and pipinglayouts.
  • Ability to produce drawings such aspiping layouts, plot plans, general arrangements andisometrics.
  • Knowledge of 2D and 3D CADDapplications
  • Knowledge of PDS or equivalentsoftware
  • Working knowledge on internationalcodes, standards and engineeringpractices

  • TechnicalEngineeringKnowledge

  • Strongunderstanding of pipeline systems, materials, and installationtechniques.
  • Knowledge of fluid mechanics,stress analysis, and pipeline flowdynamics.
  • Familiarity with pipeline designsoftware (e.g., AutoCAD, CAESAR II, Pipeline Studio, orsimilar).

  • Problem-Solvingand AnalyticalThinking

  • Ability toanalyze complex engineering problems and propose effectivesolutions.
  • Proficient in conducting stress andflow analysis to ensure that pipeline designs meet safety andoperationalstandards.

  • Awareness of environmental andsafety concerns related to pipeline operation andinstallation.

Desired candidate profile

AJunior Pipeline Engineer is typicallyresponsible for assisting in the design, installation, andmaintenance of pipelines that transport fluids (e.g., oil, gas,water) across various distances and terrains. The role involvescollaborating with senior engineers to ensure that pipeline systemsare safe, efficient, and compliant with industry standards andregulations.

KeyResponsibilities

  1. PipelineDesign andPlanning

    • Assist indesigning and drafting pipeline systems, including routing, sizing,and material selection.
    • Use software tools(e.g., AutoCAD, Pipeline Studio, CAESAR II) to create and modifypipeline layouts and stress analysismodels.
    • Collaborate with senior engineers todevelop project plans and ensure alignment with technicalspecifications.

  2. PipelineConstructionSupport

    • Provide on-sitesupport during the construction of pipelines, ensuring adherence todesign specifications.
    • Assist in evaluatingconstruction progress and troubleshoot any design or installationissues that arise.
    • Ensure that installationmeets safety, quality, and regulatoryrequirements.

  3. PipelineIntegrity andMaintenance

    • Assist withintegrity assessments, inspections, and testing (e.g., hydrostatictesting, inline inspection).
    • Support thedevelopment and implementation of pipeline maintenance schedules,ensuring longevity and safe operation.
    • Monitorthe performance of pipelines using inspection and monitoring tools,helping to identify potential weaknesses or areas needingattention.

  4. RiskAssessment andSafety

    • Conduct orsupport risk assessments, including hazard identification andconsequence analysis for pipelineprojects.
    • Ensure that pipelines meet safety andenvironmental regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA) and conduct safetyaudits.
    • Assist in the development andimplementation of safety protocols and emergency responseplans.

  5. RegulatoryCompliance

    • Ensure thatpipeline designs and operations comply with relevant codes,standards, and regulations (e.g., ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8, API570).
    • Assist in preparing documentation forregulatory approvals, permits, andinspections.

  6. TechnicalDocumentation

    • Helpprepare technical reports, design documentation, and progressreports for internal teams and externalstakeholders.
    • Maintain accurate records ofpipeline design changes, inspections, maintenance, andcompliance.

  7. Collaborationand Communication

    • Workclosely with senior engineers, construction teams, and otherstakeholders to ensure that projects are delivered on time andwithin budget.
    • Communicate effectively withboth internal teams and external contractors or vendors regardingpipeline design, construction, and maintenanceactivities.

  8. ContinuousLearning

    • Stay currenton industry trends, technologies, and standards in pipelineengineering.
    • Participate in training programsor certifications to improve engineering skills andknowledge.
