The Assistant Resident Engineer willwork with AECOM's construction supervision disciplineengineers, independently or under the direction of the ResidentEngineer, advising on all engineering matters related to roadsconstruction.

KeyResponsibilities

  • Reviewand approve Contractor's technical submittals, includingshop drawings, method statements, and materials, as delegated bythe Resident Engineer.
  • OverseeInspectors' daily activities, review their reports, andprovide guidance on the supervision of the Contractor'soperations.
  • Coordinate withContractor's supervisory personnel regarding schedule,sequence, and method of work.
  • Monitor projectprogress, identify potential delays, and recommend recoveryactions.
  • Ensure high quality of works duringthe construction period, strict compliance with theEmployer's Requirements, Project Specifications, and SafetyRequirements.
  • Review Contractor'sdesign for compliance with Employer's Requirements,Authority Requirements, End-User Requirements, and Local andInternational Standards.
  • Prepare and submitdaily and weekly reports to the Resident Engineer, detailingprogress, non-conformities, and any issues requiringattention.
  • Participate in project constructionmeetings and assist in resolving constructionproblems.
  • Review as-built drawings and assistin punch list preparation.
  • Perform claimsanalysis and evaluate Contractor's personnel, equipment,materials, and subcontractors.

Qualifications

MinimumQualification

  • BachelorDegree in relevant Engineering field (i.e. Civiletc.)
  • Minimum 12 years of related ConstructionSupervision / Management experience on projects with a broadgeneral engineering background.
  • Must haveworked on projects in the capacity of a Senior Engineer and / orAssistant Resident Engineer as a minimum.

  • Scheduling :Assisting in the creation and management of project schedules,ensuring tasks are completed withindeadlines.
  • ResourceManagement : Coordinating the use of materials,labor, and equipment on-site to ensure that everything is availablewhen needed and usedefficiently.
  • CostControl : Helping to monitor project budgets andcosts, ensuring the project stays within financial constraints.Reporting cost variances and suggesting cost-saving measures whenpossible.
  • RiskManagement : Identifying potential risks to theproject and taking proactive measures to mitigate them. Reportingrisks to the senior engineer andstakeholders.

2.ConstructionKnowledge

  • ConstructionProcesses : Understanding construction methods andmaterials, including structural, civil, and mechanical components,as well as safety standards and qualityassurance.
  • Building Codes andStandards : Familiarity with local building codes,regulations, and industry standards to ensure compliance on allaspects of the construction.
  • SiteSafety : Ensuring that all safety protocols arefollowed on-site, including the use of personal protectiveequipment (PPE), safety inspections, and hazardidentification.

3.Supervision andCoordination

  • TeamSupervision : Overseeing the activities ofconstruction workers, subcontractors, and suppliers on-site,ensuring that they follow the design plans, schedules, and safetyprocedures.
  • Coordination withStakeholders : Acting as a point of contact betweenvarious stakeholders, such as contractors, suppliers, consultants,and clients. Communicating regularly to ensure smooth projectexecution.
  • DailyReporting : Keeping a record of the work completedeach day, including the number of workers on-site, progress, anydelays, and any issues that arise.

4.Technical Skills andProblem-Solving

  • Blueprintsand Plans : Ability to read, interpret, andunderstand blueprints, technical drawings, and constructionspecifications to ensure work is being completed according toplan.
  • On-Site ProblemSolving : Identifying problems on-site and findingsolutions in real-time. This might involve adjusting designs,schedules, or workflows to address unexpectedchallenges.
  • QualityControl : Ensuring that the quality of materials andworkmanship meets the required standards. Conducting tests orinspections to verify that materials used in construction meetspecifications.

5.Inspection andMonitoring

  • ConstructionInspections : Regularly inspecting constructionactivities to ensure that work is being carried out according tothe approved plans and specifications. Documenting anydiscrepancies or non-compliance and taking corrective action asneeded.
  • FieldMeasurements : Taking precise measurements on-site toensure that work is being done according to the design. Verifyingdimensions and alignment foraccuracy.
  • MaterialTesting : Monitoring the testing of materials (e.g.,concrete, soil, asphalt) to ensure they meet the required qualitystandards.

  • ClearReporting : Writing daily, weekly, or monthly reportson project progress, issues encountered, and actions taken.Communicating these reports to the senior resident engineer orclient.
  • EffectiveCommunication : Communicating effectively withconstruction workers, project managers, and external consultants torelay project updates, changes, andexpectations.
