Mechanical Design Engineer - PODS Factory

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in Building Information Modelling (BIM) to join our team at a state-of-the-art toilet pods manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, modelling, and optimizing mechanical systems for prefabricated toilet pods using BIM tools. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, BIM standards, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. BIM-Based Mechanical Design for Toilet Pods:
    1. Develop detailed 3D models of mechanical systems (plumbing, HVAC, and drainage) for prefabricated toilet pods using BIM software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks).
    2. Create and manage mechanical families, templates, and libraries specific to toilet pod manufacturing.
    3. Ensure models comply with factory-specific BIM standards and production requirements.
  2. Design and Optimization:
    1. Design and optimize mechanical systems for toilet pods, ensuring functionality, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.
    2. Collaborate with structural and electrical engineers to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly into the overall pod design.
    3. Perform calculations for pipe sizing, ventilation requirements, and water supply systems.
  3. Coordination and Clash Detection:
    1. Participate in BIM coordination meetings to resolve clashes and ensure smooth integration of mechanical systems with other disciplines.
    2. Work closely with the production team to ensure designs are manufacturable and align with factory capabilities.
  4. Documentation and Deliverables:
    1. Generate fabrication drawings, assembly instructions, and bill of materials (BOM) from BIM models.
    2. Prepare schedules, such as pipe routing, valve schedules, and equipment lists.
    3. Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations of UAE.
  5. Quality Assurance and Troubleshooting:
    1. Conduct model reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
    2. Troubleshoot and resolve design or production issues related to mechanical systems.
  6. Innovation and Process Improvement:
    1. Stay updated with the latest BIM technologies and methodologies to improve design and production processes.
    2. Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and enhance product quality.

Qualifications:

  1. Education:
    1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  2. Experience:
    1. Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably in modular construction or prefabricated systems.
    2. Proven experience with BIM software such as Revit, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks, or similar.
  3. Skills:
    1. Strong proficiency in mechanical system design and modelling using BIM tools.
    2. Excellent understanding of plumbing, HVAC, and drainage systems.
    3. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
    4. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    5. Knowledge of modular construction and prefabrication processes.
