Overview To plan, develop, and deliver external communications for key stakeholders including the public, customers, media, government bodies, and communities, with a strong understanding of African market dynamics and local media landscapes. Responsibilities Public Relations Lead the planning, execution, and measurement of PR strategies and campaigns aligned to business objectives, ensuring integrated external communications across African Tier 1 and Tier 2 markets. Own PR agency management and budgets, ensuring efficient delivery, strong value creation, and consistent quality across markets. Manage end-to-end media relations, including press materials, approvals, and timely distribution, working closely with internal stakeholders and regional spokespeople. Provide strategic PR counsel, including coordination with EMEA teams and support on issues and crisis communications when required. Maintain a holistic view of the external landscape, anticipating reputational risks and opportunities relevant to Africa’s media and socio-cultural environment. Social Media Define and lead the social media strategy, ensuring alignment with business priorities, brand governance, and African audience behaviours, platforms, and content trends. Oversee social media agencies and budgets, guiding campaign development, content delivery, and optimisation against agreed KPIs. Ensure consistent execution through content calendars, campaign toolkits, and performance tracking, balancing always-on storytelling with campaign-led priorities. Work closely with central and regional teams to apply governance, best practices, and future-facing approaches across all social platforms. Bring a forward-looking mindset, identifying emerging platforms, creator trends, and engagement opportunities across African markets. Minimum 3 years’ experience in PR, social media, influencer engagement, and content strategy. Hands-on experience across African markets, with a strong understanding of the media landscape, cultural nuances, and platform dynamics across Tier 1 and Tier 2 African countries. Demonstrated knowledge of key social platforms and content trends in Africa, including audience behavior, creator ecosystems, and demographic insights. Experience leveraging English, French, and Arabic markets and media environments, with language proficiency or working knowledge considered a strong advantage. Demonstrated success in delivering PR and social campaigns that drive awareness and adoption of new or emerging product categories. Proven ability to own both the narrative and measurable outcomes, balancing creativity with performance. Strong knowledge of social media platforms, influencer ecosystems, and monitoring/listening tools. Track record of using PR and social media to proactively generate high-quality media coverage and meaningful audience conversations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate strategies, rationale, and results to agencies, peers, and senior stakeholders. Collaborative team player with the ability to perform under pressure. Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, self-driven environment with multiple stakeholders, shifting priorities, and minimal supervision. Experience in a Marketing Communications or PR role supporting a growth-phase or subscription-led business is an advantage.
