Designation: Operations Excellence Lead (Lean Six Sigma and Change Management)

Reporting to: Director - Mazrui Energy Services (MES)

Job Objective: MES is implementing a strategy focusing on improving and implementing business models, addressing a growing competitive environment in MEA. The purpose of the Operational Excellence Lead's role is to work alongside process owners to develop and improve operating processes across the MES businesses, enabling us to scale our operations successfully, optimize efficiencies, whilst mitigating and reporting on risk and compliance. It is critical that the role helps drive accountability and responsibility for processes throughout the businesses. The Operations Excellence Lead will work with various departments, including manufacturing, supply chain, and quality, to ensure cohesive and efficient operations and to drive significant improvement in quality, cost, customer service, and engagement. The incumbent will report directly to the MES Director.

Key Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Cooperate with MES management team and BU managers to develop and execute strategies that align with the company's overall goals and objectives across the different Business Units.
  • Implement best practices, optimizing processes, and foster a culture of excellence.
  • Employ Six Sigma and LEAN methodology and analytics into organizational operations in order to accomplish business objectives.
  • Develop improvement plans for assigned areas by developing and maintaining relationships with leaders, stakeholders, and industry experts (e.g., General Managers, process owners, customers).
  • Continuously measure and monitor processes, risks, and controls by conducting post-implementation reviews, project follow-up, and internal audits.
  • Oversee and manage projects aimed at cost reduction through productivity, quality, and efficiency enhancement.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and drive accountability.
  • Lead change management efforts to ensure smooth implementation of new processes and practices.
  • Ensure all processes comply with relevant regulations, industry standards, and quality management systems such as ISO/API certifications.
  • Leverage technological advancements and data analytics to drive operational improvements.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising quality or efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of operational processes and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration across all organizational levels.
  • Assess and mitigate risks associated with operational processes and projects.
  • Guide and mentor team members to cultivate a high-performance culture.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices to inform operational strategies.
  • Maintain the quality, environmental, and OH&S management system.
  • Communicate the importance of fulfilling customer, legal, and regulatory compliance requirements through periodic communication meetings as well as by conducting management reviews to ensure the availability of resources, that risk assessments are understood, and the integrated management system achieves its intended results.
  • Ensure that the corporate policies are understood, implemented, and maintained throughout at all levels.
  • Responsible for the quality of Mazrui Energy Services products and services since you control the resources, systems, and processes by which conforming work is accomplished.

Ability & Skills:

  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Arabic will be an added advantage but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge: Equipment services in O&G, Petrochemical, or PowerGen industry.
  • Experience in implementing lean manufacturing principles and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Proven ability to leverage manufacturing processes, technologies, and best practices to optimize operational efficiency and productivity.
  • Demonstrated expertise in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and quality management systems.
  • MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint), MS Project.

  • Extensive experience in the field of operations management.

  • Experience working as part of a multi-regional team.
  • Experience of using LEAN and Six Sigma methodology is required.
  • Commercially astute and good working knowledge of Finance processes.

Academic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required: business, Industrial Engineering, or operations management.
