Responsibilities

  • Providegeotechnical engineering solutions that are safe and sustainable,cost effective, fit for purpose, commercially satisfying andinnovative ensuring to be aligned with the Group'sgovernance and strategic goals.
  • Analyze dataand prepare technical reports and documents for both internal andexternal stakeholders.
  • Develop the technicalrequirements for ports and maritime engineering studies,construction and performance specifications, design standards andother technical documents as required.
  • Developinitial preconceptual engineering schemes for potential futureprojects.
  • Maintain a positive and collaborativerelationship between project teams, supply chain and otherstakeholders for the betterment of the AD Portsgroup.
  • Identify future trends in the field ofgeotechnical engineering and propose improvements and enhancementsto existing specifications, standards, methods, andsolutions.
  • Lead the development and continuousimprovement of departmental standards andprocedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor'sdegree in Geotechnical Engineering or a related field.Master's degree is a plus
  • ExcellentEnglish. Arabic is an added advantage
  • A minimumof 6-8 years of experience in a similarrole
  • Experience in geotechnical engineeringespecially within a port, maritime or infrastructureenvironment.
  • Preferably worked in bothconstruction and consultancyorganisations.
  • Strong problem solving andcritical thinking skills to identify and address complex challengesand opportunities and make data-drivendecisions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and theability to collaborate effectively with individuals at all levelsof the organization.

1. TechnicalExpertise

  • SubsurfaceAnalysis: Proficiency in conducting siteinvestigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situtesting.
  • SoilMechanics: Deep understanding of soil behavior undervarious conditions, such as loading and environmentalchanges.
  • RockMechanics: Knowledge of rock properties and theirimpact on structural stability and excavationprocesses.
  • FoundationEngineering: Expertise in designing shallow and deepfoundations, including piles and matfoundations.

2.Analytical and Problem-SolvingSkills

  • GeotechnicalModeling: Using advanced software to simulatesoil-structure interaction and predict behavior underload.
  • RiskAssessment: Identifying geotechnical hazards, suchas slope instability, liquefaction, or subsidence, and developingmitigation strategies.
  • CriticalThinking: Applying engineering judgment to solvecomplex geotechnical challenges in diverseenvironments.

3.ProjectManagement

  • Planningand Coordination: Leading geotechnicalinvestigations and integrating findings into projectdesigns.
  • BudgetManagement: Estimating and managing costs forgeotechnical studies and relatedactivities.
  • TeamLeadership: Guiding junior engineers and techniciansin geotechnical analyses andreporting.

4.Communication andReporting

  • TechnicalReports: Preparing detailed geotechnical reportswith clear findings andrecommendations.
  • ClientInteraction: Explaining geotechnical issues andsolutions to stakeholders, including non-technicalaudiences.
  • Collaboration: Working with multidisciplinary teams, including structural, civil,and environmentalengineers.

5.Regulatory and EnvironmentalAwareness

  • Compliance: Ensuring projects meet local, national, and internationalgeotechnical standards andcodes.
  • Sustainability: Incorporating environmentally friendly practices into geotechnicaldesigns.
  • Health andSafety: Implementing safety protocols during fieldinvestigations and constructionactivities.
