Roles and responsibilities

The MEP Draughtsman is responsiblefor preparing, modifying and analyzing technical drawings of MEPprojects including HVAC, Fire Protection, Lighting, Small Power,ELV systems, Plumping and Drainage installations by usingsophisticated software tools for drafting like AutoCAD, REVIT, BIMand Microstation

JobResponsibilities

  • Prepare schedules for the generationof drawings in line with the requirement of MEP Projectsschedules.
  • Review the tender drawings andassess the drafting works involved in the project and prepare thetime line for completion of detailed design drawings and shopdrawings.
  • Manage the drawings related works tomeet the project targets by regularly monitoring and reporting theprogress of works.
  • Prepare, modify and analyzeMechanical, Electrical, Plumping and Drainage Projects drawings byusing software tools like AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM and Microstation
  • Closely coordinate with Design Manager,Estimation Engineers, Site Engineers and Project Managers forcollection of inputs and review ofdrawings.
  • Coordination with Client draftingteam in the case of any interface discussions or clarificationsduring various phases of theproject.
  • Collaborate with the ESCO team toincorporate energy-saving measures in the drawings relatedworks.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Mechanical / ElectricalEngineering with 3 year experience in MEP project drawingpreparation with software tools like AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM and Microstation

or

  • Technical Certificate courses inMechanical / Electrical / Drafting fields with minimum 5yearsexperience in MEP project drawing preparation with software toolslike AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM and Micro station .

Experience

  • Diploma in Mechanical / ElectricalEngineering:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience inMEP projects drawings preparation works for residential andcommercial towers and industrialbuildings.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in MEPprojects drawings preparation works for residential and commercialtowers and industrial buildings in UAE or any other GCCcountries.
  • ESCO industry experiencepreferred.

  • Creating TechnicalDrawings :

    • Developingdetailed MEP drawings (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) basedon the project specifications, requirements, and industrystandards.
    • Using Computer-Aided Design (CAD)software to create accurate blueprints for MEP systems, such asHVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems,electrical wiring, and plumbinglayouts.

  • Collaboratingwith Engineers andArchitects :

    • Workingclosely with MEP engineers, architects, and project managers toensure the integration of MEP systems within the overall buildingdesign.
    • Understanding the requirements andspecifications provided by engineers to translate them into clearand precise technicaldrawings.

  • Revisingand UpdatingDrawings :

    • Modifyingdrawings based on feedback, changes in design, or site-specificrequirements.
    • Ensuring that drawings are keptup-to-date with changes during the design and construction phasesof theproject.

  • EnsuringCompliance with Codes andStandards :

    • Ensuringthat all MEP designs comply with local building codes, safetystandards, and regulations.
    • Conducting researchon applicable standards for mechanical, electrical, and plumbingsystems to guarantee accuracy andcompliance.

  • ProvidingDocumentation :

    • Preparingand organizing documentation to accompany drawings, such asspecifications, material lists, and installationinstructions.
    • Producing construction drawingsand other documents that can be used by contractors andconstruction teams forimplementation.

  • PreparingCoordinationDrawings :

    • Creatingdetailed coordination drawings that show how different MEP systems(e.g., HVAC ducts, electrical wiring, plumbing pipes) fit togetherwithin a building'sstructure.
    • Coordinating with other trades toavoid conflicts during the construction process, ensuring systemsare properlyintegrated.

  • Participatingin Site Visits (ifrequired) :

    • Sometimes,draughtsmen may visit the construction site to assess the progressof work or verify that installation is proceeding as per theplans.
    • Taking measurements or inspectinginstallations to ensure that the design is being implementedaccurately.
