Job Summary

The AV Site Engineer is responsible for overseeing the implementation and on-site coordination of complex audio-visual systems across various projects. This role involves managing the installation, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of AV systems, ensuring full functionality and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Site Project Management:
  • Manage the complete life cycle of AV system installations on-site, ensuring all phases are executed according to the project timeline.
  • Ensure smooth handover between different teams such as design, programming, installation, and commissioning.
  • Provide daily reports on the progress of the project, including potential delays, challenges, and solutions.
  • Technical Supervision & Installation:
  • Lead the technical team in the installation of AV systems such as video walls, control rooms, conference systems, paging systems, and other related technologies.
  • Ensure all devices are mounted, connected, and installed correctly according to the wiring diagrams and floor plans.
  • Manage all aspects of AV infrastructure including cabling (Cat6, fiber optics, etc.), power, and network connectivity.
  • System Calibration and Configuration:
  • Calibrate audio and video systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with the required technical specifications.
  • Program control systems like Crestron, Extron, or AMX to meet the client's operational needs, including integration with lighting, HVAC, and other building systems.
  • System Testing, Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
  • Perform full end-to-end testing and commissioning of AV systems, documenting any deviations from design specifications and rectifying them on-site.
  • Diagnose technical issues in real time, providing immediate on-site solutions or coordinating with support teams to resolve complex issues.
  • Conduct routine maintenance checks post-installation, ensuring that all systems continue to perform optimally.
  • Team Coordination:
  • Manage on-site teams including electricians, cabling contractors, and other third-party service providers, ensuring adherence to project specifications.
  • Coordinate with the procurement department to ensure timely delivery of AV equipment and other materials required for installation.
  • Client Relations & Training:
  • Communicate effectively with clients throughout the installation process to ensure their requirements are understood and met.
  • Provide on-site client training and demonstrations on system use and troubleshooting techniques once installation is complete.
  • Compliance & Safety:
  • Ensure all on-site activities adhere to both internal company standards and local regulatory guidelines, including health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols.
  • Maintain a high standard of site cleanliness and proper storage of materials to avoid any potential hazards or delays.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Telecommunications, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of hands-on experience in the installation and management of AV systems, preferably in commercial or large-scale settings.
  • Demonstrated experience working on-site in a client-facing role, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and teams.
  • Certifications:
  • Relevant industry certifications (CTS, CTS-I, or CTS-D from AVIXA) highly preferred.
  • Vendor-specific certifications in Crestron, Extron, Biamp, or AMX programming are an advantage.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong understanding of AV signal flow and networking principles (AV over IP, TCP/IP, etc.).
  • Expertise in installing and troubleshooting AV equipment including microphones, amplifiers, processors, video displays, and control systems.
  • Familiarity with video conferencing platforms (e.g., Zoom Rooms, Cisco Webex, Polycom) and integration into larger AV systems.
  • Experience in integrating AV systems with building management systems and other IT infrastructures.

  • Effective coordination with internal and external teams, ensuring everyone is aligned to project goals and timelines.

  • Maintain a strong focus on quality assurance, ensuring all systems perform optimally and exceed client expectations.

Work Conditions

  • Willingness to work on construction sites or commercial buildings with varying environmental conditions.
  • Ability to work extended hours when necessary to meet project deadlines.
  • Occasional travel may be required for project meetings or on-site visits in different locations.
