Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Physician-Neurology to join our team at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and implementing the organization's performance management system, including peer review and productivity and utilization review processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supports, implements, and follows all hospital, departmental, and divisional initiatives, policies, and procedures.
  2. Leads and implements the organization's performance management system, including peer review and productivity and utilization review processes.
  3. Participates in the organization's performance management system, including peer review and productivity and utilization review processes.
  4. Assists with scheduling and supports the Division Chief in ensuring that adequate medical coverage is provided within the Division at all times.
  5. Attends Divisional meetings as required.
  6. Assists the Division Chief in the recruitment of new medical staff when appropriate.
  7. Assumes other administrative or clinical duties as requested by the Division Chief.
  8. Diagnoses and treats patients according to established standards of best practice for the post holder's specialty.
  9. Oversees the clinical activities of junior medical staff and assumes responsibility for the care they provide.
  10. Complies with all established hospital policies regarding admissions, consultations, daily patient care, surgical procedures, discharge protocols, outpatient, and follow-up practices.
  11. Practices appropriate utilization of the organization's resources.
  12. Liaises with other medical specialties and support services for additional input as required.
  13. Actively participates in multi-disciplinary meetings to help plan effective, safe, and holistic care for individual patients.
  14. Ensures preparation of patients for all procedures including obtaining informed consent.
  15. Accepts clinically appropriate referrals from the Emergency Department, primary care, other departments, specialty clinics, walk-in patients, and patients referred from other hospitals.
  16. Participates in and ensures the provision of on-call hours coverage on a rotational basis including evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays as required.
  17. Communicates clinical information to patients and the patient's family and friends (with the consent of the patient) in a timely manner.
  18. Maintains a good working relationship with members of staff and promotes collaboration and a team-based approach to patient care.
  19. Performs other clinical duties as assigned.
  20. Helps lead quality improvement within the Department.
  21. Supports a culture of regular audit and encourages the use of audit results for improving clinical practice.
  22. Fosters a culture of learning, development, and continuous improvement across the Department by promoting and assisting in the instruction, guidance, and supervision of junior medical staff.
  23. Promotes and participates in clinical research and publication.
  24. Keeps abreast of the current, relevant literature and the latest trends and technologies in the industry.
