Roles and responsibilities

The Neurologist will be responsiblefor diagnosing and treating patients with neurological conditions,specializing in areas such as Epilepsy, Movement Disorders, and EEGreadings. Daily tasks include patient consultations, diagnostictests, treatment planning, and collaboration with multidisciplinaryteams.

  • Specialization in Epilepsy and MovementDisorders
  • Experience in EEGinterpretation
  • Strong diagnostic and treatmentplanning abilities
  • Excellent communication andinterpersonal skills
  • Board certification inNeurology
  • Experience in rehabilitation ormultidisciplinary team settings
  • Korean speakersarepreffered.

  • DiagnosingNeurologicalConditions

    • Assessingpatients' neurological symptoms and performing diagnostictests, including physical exams, imaging, and electrodiagnosticstudies.
    • Diagnosing conditions such asbrain tumors , spinalcord injuries ,epilepsy ,stroke ,neurodegenerative diseases , andhydrocephalus .

  • PerformingNeurosurgicalProcedures

    • Conductingbrain, spine, and nervous system surgeries, includingtumor removal , aneurysmclipping , spinalfusion , spinal corddecompression , and epilepsysurgery .
    • Performingminimally invasive procedures usingendoscopic techniques and advanced technologies to reduce recoverytime andcomplications.

  • ManagingNeurologicalEmergencies

    • Treatingtrauma patients with head and spinal injuries, performing surgeriesto stabilize their condition, and managing recovery andrehabilitation.
    • Providing acute care forconditions such as acute spinal cordinjury , intracranialhemorrhage , and statusepilepticus .

  • Post-OperativeCare andRehabilitation

    • Overseeingpost-surgical recovery, including monitoring for complications suchas infection ,hemorrhage , and nervedamage .
    • Developingrehabilitation plans to help patients regain motor function,cognition, and quality of life aftersurgery.

  • Non-SurgicalManagement

    • Providingnon-surgical treatments for conditions like chronicback pain , spinal discherniation , headaches ,and cerebrovasculardisease .
    • Prescribing medication,physical therapy, and other interventions for managing chronicneurologicalconditions.

  • PatientCounseling andEducation

    • Explainingdiagnoses and treatment options to patients and their families,addressing concerns about the risks and benefits of surgicalprocedures.
    • Providing support and advice onlifestyle changes, long-term management, and coping strategies forchronic neurologicalconditions.

  • Researchand ClinicalTrials

    • Conductingresearch to advance the understanding and treatment of neurologicaldiseases and disorders.
    • Participating in orleading clinical trials aimed at testing new surgical techniques,therapies, ormedications.

  • Collaborationwith OtherSpecialists

    • Collaboratingwith neurologists, oncologists, radiologists, pain managementspecialists, and rehabilitation professionals to provide integratedcare for patients with neurologicalconditions.
    • Referring patients to otherspecialists when necessary for comprehensivecare.

  • Extensive Knowledge ofNeuroscience andAnatomy

    • Deepunderstanding of the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nervoussystem, including the structure, function, and pathology of thesesystems.
    • Expertise in neuroanatomy,neurophysiology, and the understanding of neurological disorderssuch as stroke ,epilepsy ,Parkinson's disease ,brain tumors , spinalcord injuries , and traumatic braininjuries(TBI) .

  • AdvancedSurgical Skills

    • Masteryin performing delicate and complex surgeries involving the brain,spine, and nervous system, such ascraniotomies , spinalfusions , tumorresections , aneurysmrepairs , and deep brain stimulation(DBS) .
    • Expertise in minimallyinvasive techniques, including endoscopicsurgery , stereotactic radiosurgery(e.g., Gamma Knife) , androbotic-assistedsurgery .

  • DiagnosticExpertise

    • Ability todiagnose neurological conditions using advanced imagingtechnologies such as MRI ,CT scans ,angiography , andelectroencephalography(EEG) .
    • Proficiency ininterpreting neuroimaging results to plan surgical interventionsand understand diseaseprogression.

  • Managementof NeurologicalDisorders

    • Expertise intreating a wide range of neurological disorders, such asbrain tumors ,aneurysms ,stroke , spinaldeformities , herniateddiscs , spinal stenosis ,and cerebralpalsy .
    • Skilled in non-surgicalmanagement for certain neurological conditions, includingmedications, rehabilitation, and monitoring of degenerativediseases.

  • MultidisciplinaryCollaboration

    • Abilityto work closely with neurologists, oncologists, radiologists,rehabilitation specialists, and other healthcare providers toensure comprehensive care forpatients.
    • Coordination with other medicalprofessionals in the management of conditions such asstroke ,epilepsy , andneuro-oncologicaldiseases .

  • PatientEducation andCommunication

    • Strongcommunication skills to explain complex neurological conditions,surgical procedures, and post-operative care to patients and theirfamilies.
    • Ability to provide emotional supportto patients and families dealing with critical or life-threateningneurologicalconditions.

  • PainManagement

    • Expertise inmanaging post-surgical pain, including the use ofopioid analgesics , nerveblocks , and spinal cordstimulators .
    • Knowledge ofnon-surgical methods of pain relief, such as physicaltherapy and cognitive behavioraltherapy .
