Job Description:

Role Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controls and Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer to join our team in Abu Dhabi. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in instrumentation and control systems, with a proven track record of delivering successful projects in the oil and gas industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Instrument and Controls Engineering: Assume sole responsibility for assigned Instrument and Controls engineering workscopes, carrying out instrumentation and control discipline work within a project team to support the project team for field development of oil and gas production facilities.
  • Project Management: Plan, budget, organize, and control a segment of the Instrument and Controls engineering deliverables for the project, preparing Instrument and Controls deliverables for all project phases in the oil and gas industry.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide direction and guidance on all Instrument and Controls engineering technical queries raised by either internal or external parties, promoting safe behavior at all times and providing sound technical advice and solutions to a diversity of technical problems within the discipline.
  • Coordination and Documentation: Coordinate with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre-commissioning, and start-up, assist in the coordination of all activities related to Instrument and Controls engineering design, and prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation, including specifications, datasheets, and operation manuals.
  • Quality Assurance and Safety Management: Ensure that all instrumentation and control systems adhere to quality standards and best practices, understanding safety practices and standards related to hazardous areas and process safety, and identifying any areas of concern with respect to progress and/or quality and recommend corrective actions as required.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor Degree qualification in Instrument or Electronics Engineering.
  • Experience: 15+ years of relevant experience in the oil & gas industry, with PMC experience required.
  • Professional Development: Membership of a recognized professional institute preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Thorough knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of Instrument and Controls engineering design and analysis, thorough awareness of relevant international codes and standards, familiar with typical software packages that are used for Instrument and Controls engineering design, and experience of the application of HAZOP, HAZID, and SIL Rating to Instrument and Controls design.
  • Project Management and Leadership: Proficiency in managing project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful delivery, and ability to lead and mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a collaborative work environment.

  1. Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of instrumentation and control systems, including sensors, transmitters, PLCs, SCADA, and DCS.
  2. Project Management: Proficiency in managing project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful delivery.
  3. Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISA, IEC, ATEX) to ensure that systems meet safety and quality requirements.
  4. Design Review: Skills in reviewing and approving design documents, specifications, and drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  5. Risk Assessment: Ability to identify potential risks related to instrumentation and control systems and develop mitigation strategies.
  6. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effectively collaborating with stakeholders, clients, and team members.
  7. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during project execution.
  8. Vendor Management: Experience in coordinating with equipment suppliers and contractors to ensure quality and compliance with specifications.
  9. Quality Assurance: Ensuring that all instrumentation and control systems adhere to quality standards and best practices.
  10. Team Leadership: Ability to lead and mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a collaborative work environment.
