Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Produce Assistant to join our team at H-E-B. As a Produce Assistant, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, maintaining high-quality produce displays, and ensuring efficient inventory management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides superior customer service by answering customer questions, making product recommendations, and resolving any issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work environment, including display cases, stockrooms, and walk-in coolers.
  • Ensures accurate and efficient inventory management by receiving and rotating produce shipments, monitoring inventory levels, and reporting discrepancies to management.
  • Merchandises produce effectively by creating visually appealing displays, arranging products in an attractive and accessible manner, and ensuring proper signage and labeling.
  • Assists with departmental tasks such as preparing produce for sale, cutting and wrapping fruits and vegetables, and processing orders.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework or certification in food safety and handling preferred.
  • Minimum 18 years of age; ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of inventory management software.
