Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Instrumentation Designer Offshore to join our team at Duncan & Ross. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for leading and managing instrumentation engineering activities for offshore upstream oil and gas projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Execution Planning: Develop project execution plans, schedules, and budgets for instrumentation scope, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
  • Instrumentation Design: Develop and review instrumentation design documents, including P&IDs, instrument datasheets, loop diagrams, and control philosophies, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Equipment Specification: Specify and select instrumentation equipment, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Instrument Sizing and Calculations: Perform instrument sizing and calculations for control valves, flow meters, pressure, and temperature instruments.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and leadership to the instrumentation engineering team, ensuring effective project delivery.
  • Interdisciplinary Coordination: Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (process, mechanical, electrical, etc.) to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Technical Reviews and Audits: Conduct technical reviews and audits to ensure design integrity and compliance with industry standards.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with vendors and contractors, ensuring timely delivery and quality of equipment and services.
  • Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests: Oversee factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT), ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Instrumentation Design Compliance: Ensure all instrumentation designs comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Risk Assessments and Hazard Analyses: Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses related to instrumentation systems.
  • Safety Instrumented Systems: Implement safety instrumented systems (SIS) and ensure compliance with IEC 61511 standards.
  • Commissioning and Startup: Support commissioning and startup activities, ensuring instrumentation systems are correctly installed and operational.
  • Troubleshooting and Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve instrumentation-related issues during commissioning and initial operation phases.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to operations and maintenance personnel.
  • Project Documentation: Maintain accurate and comprehensive project documentation, including design calculations, datasheets, and as-built drawings.
  • Progress Reporting: Prepare regular progress reports and updates for project stakeholders.
