Job Title: Senior Technical Safety Engineer

Wood is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Safety Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our safety engineering team, you will be responsible for producing technical safety deliverables required for project execution and change management updates to existing assets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Safety Deliverables: Produce high-quality technical safety deliverables, including safety studies, risk assessments, and safety specifications, to ensure compliance with regulatory obligations and company requirements.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Assist the Lead Technical Safety Engineer in assessing risks qualitatively and quantitatively to inform engineering decisions and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Fire Protection and Safety Engineering: Collaborate with the Lead Technical Safety Engineer on fire protection and safety engineering issues for offshore and onshore installations, including the development of fire protection philosophies and safety specifications.
  • Safety Solutions Development: Propose engineering solutions to safety issues on existing onshore/offshore installations or within Greenfield engineering design to improve safety.
  • Safety Studies and Assessments: Deliver safety studies required to ensure that projects and change proposals carried out for Assets are compliant with DPE requirements and regulatory obligations.
  • Project Support: Support Project Engineers in defining philosophies and deliverable requirements for new projects.
  • Vendor Evaluation: Evaluate proposals from contractors and vendors when necessary.
  • Safety Assessments and Calculations: Participate in safety assessments, including Hazard Identification Studies (HAZID), Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP), SIL/LOPA assessments, and carry out in-house fire and gas radiation and dispersion calculations using DNV Phast and Softbits Flaresim.
  • External Specialist Coordination: Assist in the coordination of external specialist consultants' safety studies, such as Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA), Fire and Explosion Assessment (FERA), and Emergency, Escape, and Rescue Assessment (EERA).
  • Fire Protection Assessments: Carry out active and passive fire protection assessments, including fire protection philosophies, fire water demand schedules, fire water adequacy checks, hydraulic calculations using PIPENET spray/sprinkler/transient modules, and develop performance monitoring procedures for all SCE related equipment.
  • Documentation and Drawings: Produce drawings and purchasing documentation for firefighting and safety-related equipment.
  • Hazardous Area Classification: Carry out Hazardous Area Classification updates to drawings and schedules in accordance with IEC/EI standards.

Requirements: The ideal candidate will have a strong background in safety engineering, with experience in producing technical safety deliverables, risk assessments, and safety specifications.
