Main Function

The SCM Senior Chartering Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting the APME SCM Chartering Manager in finding and administering chartered vessels. This position is responsible for handling all chartering requirements throughout the project lifecycle, from Request for Quotation to project close out.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Ensure chartering category involvement for marine asset procurement activities, covering the entire project life cycle.
  2. Determine the appropriate chartering strategy with the APME SCM Chartering Manager, maintaining continuous communication with the SCM Project Lead.
  3. Develop and implement chartering strategies for each requirement in accordance with the Project Schedule.
  4. Work in accordance with Subsea 7 approved procedures, utilizing available SCM tools and adhering to Subsea 7 Business Code(s) of Ethics.
  5. Discuss chartering criticalities and potential synergies amongst different projects with the APME SCM Chartering Manager on a daily basis.
  6. Address specific SCM-related requirements of Main Contracts or Client specifications.
  7. Ensure Statement of Final accounts are signed off and a close-out report is issued upon project completion.
  8. Conduct feedback and Subcontractors/Owners Performance Evaluations upon completion of works, utilizing the savings and Value Capture/Overrun Report and Supplier/Subcontractor Performance Assessment.
  9. Able to work independently and prepare Project Special Terms for chartering with the Project Contract Manager, monitoring liability and risks with Vessel Owners.
  10. Follow the List of Subcontractors/Owners pre-approved by Subsea 7 in Ariba, sourcing and proposing alternative Vessel Owners based on approved SCM strategy within the Project and solid technical justification.
  11. Assist the APME SCM Chartering Manager in developing and supervising the regular updating of the Project Procurement Status Report, providing accurate and timely status reports of SCM activities for inclusion in the Project routine reporting.
Professional Qualifications & Experience
  1. Minimum 10 years in SCM function, especially in Oil and Gas, or 5 years in Chartering Roles in the Oil & Gas Business.
  2. Proficient in English, with very good oral and written communication skills.
  3. Excellent analytical skills.
  4. Great negotiation skills.
  5. Great working attitude.
  6. Great contractual skills (familiar with subcontract or Bimco charter parties).
  7. Bimco Charter Party, in particular with Supplytime / Bargehire.
  8. Familiar with vessel charter (especially in the Middle East).
  9. Proficient with Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  10. SAP (plus not mandatory).
Personal Skills
  1. Strong analytical skills.
  2. Creative problem-solving - able to suggest and develop new methods and ways of working.
  3. Sound communication skills – able to communicate ideas and results to various stakeholders in written reports and in meetings, presentations, etc.
  4. The ability to work in a team and individually with a minimum of supervision.
  5. The ability to organize and prioritize own work and take responsibility for discrete work packages ongoing simultaneously.
  6. Understanding of clients' needs and ability to suggest and apply 'fit for purpose' solutions.
