POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lead Mechanical Engineer specializing in rotating systems will play a crucial role in the design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of dynamic machinery within the oil and gas sector. This position is essential for ensuring the reliability and performance of critical equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines, and fans, which are integral to the seamless operation of upstream, midstream, and downstream facilities. The engineer will collaborate with various engineering disciplines to enhance equipment efficiency, minimize downtime, and adhere to industry standards and safety protocols.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and evaluate technical specifications, datasheets, and design documentation for rotating machinery, ensuring alignment with project specifications and industry benchmarks.
  • Advise on the selection of appropriate rotating equipment for specific applications, taking into account efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Supervise the installation and commissioning processes of rotating machinery, ensuring accurate alignment, balancing, and adherence to design specifications.
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of rotating equipment to proactively identify and address potential issues before they escalate into failures.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues, implementing timely corrective measures.
  • Analyze performance data of equipment to identify areas for enhancement, implementing modifications to optimize operational conditions.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and contractors to guarantee the quality and timely provision of rotating machinery and spare components.
  • Manage service agreements and monitor vendor performance.
  • Ensure compliance of all rotating equipment with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations, industry standards, and corporate policies.
  • Conduct risk assessments and engage in safety audits.
  • Provide technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle, including feasibility assessments, detailed design, construction, and startup phases.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation, including maintenance logs, inspection reports, and performance evaluations.
  • Update equipment documentation as necessary.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., API, ASME) are advantageous.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in rotating equipment engineering within the oil and gas industry, with expertise in pumps, compressors, turbines, and other essential machinery.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical design principles, material selection, vibration analysis, and reliability engineering.
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards such as API, ASME, and ISO.
  • Proficiency in engineering software tools for design, analysis, and simulation (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ANSYS, CAESAR II).
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve mechanical challenges in rotating equipment, focusing on minimizing downtime and maximizing operational efficiency.
  • Experience in managing rotating equipment projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource management.
  • Strong commitment to safety, with knowledge of HSE practices and the capability to enforce safety standards in all work aspects.
