Agriculture Manager Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Agriculture Manager to join our team at Reliance Career Opportunities. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing crop production, particularly fruits, in greenhouse, net house, and open field environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage crop production, including scheduling, land preparation, planting, growing, harvesting, processing, and packaging of produce.
  • Oversee budgeting and costing of produce-related activities.
  • Manage fertigation, including hydroponics, and monitor crops produced in protected environments and open fields to ensure efficient production.
  • Implement pest control measures and irrigation systems management.
  • Ensure product quality control and post-harvest product management.
  • Supervise staff, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Develop and manage budgets for farm operations, including expenses related to labor, equipment, and supplies.
  • Manage equipment maintenance and repair to ensure all machinery is in good working order.
  • Oversee the purchase of supplies, including plant material, fertilizers, pesticides, and manage inventory to ensure adequate supply levels.
  • Monitor market conditions and make recommendations for crop rotation and other operational decisions.
  • Coordinate with the sales department to ensure crops are marketed and sold effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to food safety, environmental regulations, and labor laws.
  • Maintain accurate records of farm operations, including crop yields, expenses, and revenues.
  • Collaborate with other farm managers for development and experience learning.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture.
  • 5 years of experience in farm management or a related field.
  • Optional certification in greenhouse management, such as the Greenhouse Management Professional (GMP) certification.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of crop production and protection practices (IPM).
  • Experience with budget management and financial analysis.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to agriculture.
  • Proficient in the use of technology and farm management software.
