Key Responsibilities
  • Payment Source Identification: Identify the appropriate payment source for patients, including patient payment, enrollment in government programs, and other payment sources.
  • Account Review and Authorization: Review and authorize inpatient and observation patient accounts, ensuring accurate and timely billing and collections.
  • Estimate Creation and Collection: Create estimates and collect point-of-service cash when applicable, ensuring timely and accurate billing and collections.
  • Referral and Coordination: Provide timely and appropriate referrals for various state medical assistance programs, ensuring seamless coordination with patients and healthcare providers.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required within one (1) year of hire.
  • Experience: 4+ years of similar hospital billing or accounting experience, with knowledge of Charity Care, Uncompensated Care, and Medicaid guidelines and regulations.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer Experience: Proficient in computer systems and software, with experience in insurance authorization and pre-certification.
  • Language: Bilingual preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior Experience: Prior experience in hospital admissions preferred.

Work Schedule
  • Shift Working: Shift working, 8:00am-4:00pm each day.
  • Monday-Friday: Monday-Friday.
  • Full-time: Full-time.
  • Rotating Weekends and Holidays: Rotating weekends and holidays required.
