Key Responsibilities
  • Treatment Planning and Delivery: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each patient, incorporating evidence-based practices and the latest research in hand therapy.
  • Patient Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical status, functional abilities, and age-specific needs to determine the current level of functioning and identify areas for improvement.
  • Documentation and Communication: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient progress, including chart notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries. Communicate effectively with patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with industry developments and best practices by attending continuing education courses, workshops, and conferences. Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues through presentations and training sessions.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and therapists, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
  • License and Certification: Current Occupational Therapist License in the state where care is provided, and Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) certification.
  • Experience: Minimum two years of post-op and splinting experience, with a strong background in hand therapy.
  • Skills: Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology; equipment operation; and basic to moderate computer skills for documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPR Certification: Current CPR certification.
  • Orthopedic Skills: Experience with orthopedic conditions and treatments.
  • Group Dynamics: Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Equipment Operation: Familiarity with hand therapy equipment and devices.
  • Knowledge of Patient Assessment and Treatment: Understanding of patient assessment and treatment specific to hand therapy.
  • Mentorship: Willingness to mentor and train other staff members.
