Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Pharmacy Informatics Specialist to join our team at American Hospital Dubai. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the automation of all pharmaceutical processes, including medication ordering, dispensing, and administration records for both inpatient and outpatient services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with Pharmacy, Materials Management, and IT leadership to design, implement, and maintain clinical information systems and supply chain integration.
  • Lead Pharmacy Module Implementation: Oversee the implementation of the Pharmacy module in Cerner and lead the integration of supply chain management with Oracle.
  • Support Safe Medication Practices: Participate in the planning, development, and implementation of safe Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) medication practices, clinical decision support, and problem identification and resolution.
  • Train and Educate Users: Provide training and support to physicians, clinicians, and pharmacists on regulatory requirements for medication processes, including Openjet (Narcotics prescribing) and e-prescription.
  • Evaluate and Improve Systems: Analyze the impact of information technology on clinical work processes and communicate issues and topics with team members, pharmacy, and IT leadership.
  • Facilitate Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate with interdisciplinary and process improvement teams to identify potential future uses of information systems for American Hospital Dubai and Satellite Clinics.
  • Ensure System Reliability: Coordinate and facilitate ongoing information system evaluation, including user accuracy, data integrity, and system reliability.
  • Lead Maintenance and Revision: Lead the efforts toward pharmacy module maintenance, including revisions, testing system changes, and integration of changes into the operational environment.
  • Participate in Committees and Work Groups: Participate in committees, work groups, or task forces as required to facilitate the ongoing process of the design, implementation, and revision of existing or new automated workflows.
  • Oversee Decision Support Tools: Ensure proper procedures are followed for decision support tools requested and new medication builds, such as Alerts, order sets, and CPOE.
  • Evaluate User Workflow: Evaluate the impact the information systems have on daily user workflow and coordinate work with end-users and IT to resolve conflicts between workflow and the information systems.
